Queen
Oasis
U2
The White Stripes
Bad Company
Nirvana
Soul Coughing
Pixies
Dinosaur Jr.
U2 (the only ones on my list still making music)
"I prefer books and movies where the conflict isn't of the extreme cannibal apocalypse variety I guess." Redsfaithful
The Cure
Simple Minds
The Smithereens
The E Street Band
10,000 Maniacs
Dubito Ergo Cogito Ergo Sum.
The Beatles, The Band, The Funk Brothers, Pink Floyd, I guess The Stones
teach tolerance.
Not in order, necessarily
Beatles (liked them as a little kid, back when they were still around, never stopped liking them)
ELO (not saying they were as good as all the other bands on this list, but they were my favorite band as a teen, and will always stay on the list)
Split Enz (the band that was before Crowded House, popular when I lived in Sydney, again, memories attached)
E-Street Band (huge difference in Springsteen with and without them. Can listen to them for hours and hours. Probably wouldn't have considered them fair game if others hadn't included them, since they were backup for a guy with a name, but if they are, they definitely belong on the list.)
The Who/The Stones/U2 (can't pick really. Sorry. Strange thing is, I'm only now starting to give the Stones their due, but I've been listening to them a lot lately.)
It is on the whole probable that we continually dream, but that consciousness makes such a noise that we do not hear it. Carl Jung.
Led Zeppelin
Beatles
Buzzcocks
Clash
U2
On the Taxi Squad....... The Sex Pistols.... Kinks... James Gang... Eagles
I like too many, but if I HAD to name 5:
The Stones
U2 (sans the newest CD - ugh)
The Pixies
Camper Van Beethoven/Cracker
Nirvana
--------------
Honorable mentions: Peter Gabriel, The Grateful Dead, Interpol, XTC, The Ocean Blue, others.
I forgot XTC....Gang Of Four....and of course...The Who.
I guess it should be Top 10+..or something.
Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Metallica
Dream Theater
Queensryche/Dokken/Pantera/Dio
AC/DC (The Bon Scott Era)
Pink Floyd (when Gilmour and Waters were still friends)
Rush (Moving Pictures and before)
The Beatles (before Yoko)
Metallica (before the grunge)
.

I've read everyone's posts and maybe I missed it but I don' think so...how does a thread about top 5 band of all-time and not person mentions The Eagles? I'm stunned.
