The Indians were reportedly interested in Luke Hudson until he pulled his Mitch Williams impersonation.

I was informed yesterday that the Reds have dangled Sean Casey, as recently as Saturday, in an attempt to land starting pitching. No surprise there.

Several teams have inquired about the health and overall status of Ricardo Arambroles. Good luck. He is one of Jimbo's prized jewels. (i.e. Willie Greene)

San Francisco has entered the Gabe White sweepstakes. Jason Christiansen has chronic neck and back problems. The Ginats front office would like to unload him and replace his spot in the bullpen with another veteran lefty.

St. Louis has tried to pry former Cardinal "Super" Joe McEwing away from the Mets. The Mets said no.

Doesn't LaRussa have enough utility guys on his team? Is attendance down there too? I know he was popular when he was there but that was ridiculous.

    Team Clark,

what is your opinion on trading Gabe White?

I know he makes much money but on the other hand he has really done a great job for us so far. Who could replace him if he is traded? And as long as the Reds are in the race (hey, they are still in first place) shouldn't they keep their players and try to get to the playoffs?

I think the Reds should keep Gabe White at least until they are out of the race. Possibly wait until the July 31 deadline. Gabe has been as valuable as Sullivan IMO. However, if Gabe can help land a SOLID starting pitcher, I would have to go along with that.

I would not be in favor of trading Gabe just to trade him.

The Reds options are few in any to replace White. Mercado is gone, Atchley is not the answer. Davis is not a reliever. Surprisingly there are only two LH pitchers on the Reds 40 man roster. They do have righties that can get LH's out. However, I would rather see a LH pitcher go after a LH hitter in the 8th with runners on.

Also, The Oakland A's have inquired about Scott Sullivan and Luis Pineda. There was a "RUMOR" circulating that there was interest in Jose Rijo. I find that hard to believe and have found NO ONE to back that up. Just thought I would post that for a little humor. The source was credible but I think he was trying to pull our leg. (Maybe he thought May 1 was also a Fool's Day.)

princeton would be happy to hear you mention/handicap...Paul Darnell

For all the success the Reds have had acquiring/developing righthanded relievers, they've had difficulty finding/keeping southpaws for the bullpen. Some of this could be cost related, since an effective lefty will always be spendier than a RHR of similar caliber. My suggestion is: convert Lance Davis to bullpen duty, his road back to the 'show will be quicker, and the extra lefty in the 'pen will help with late game matchups

    Team Clark,
Have you heard anymore about Colon or is it dead?

I should know more on the Colon deal in the next few days. It is still a hot topic.

Good question '62. If I posted some of the stories I have told you, the counter would surely be in six digits.

"The Indians were reportedly interested in Luke Hudson until he pulled his Mitch Williams impersonation."

When was that? Luke didn't walk anyone yesterday, contrary to McCoy's report of 8 walks (that was hits allowed, not walks). Hudson's 13 walks and 1 wild pitch in 33 innings is hardly Williams-esque.

The report I received on Hudson was that he was deep in the count to a majority of the batters. He threw several pitches beyond the catcher with no one on. (Thank god). Basically he was very wild. When he got to a 3-2 count he threw the ball down the middle. Luke has a history of being wild. I am a huge fan of his and hope the Reds put him in the rotation this year for at least 6-8 starts.

No way do you trade Sullivan or Pineda. Pineda may have some growing pains but man that guy has some excellent stuff. The A's would have to overwhelm the Reds for either one of those guys. I'm not sold any trading White either...at least not yet. Darnell was just sent to AA so that can't be good. Team Clark, what's the word on Shaw? Any talk about going after Rolen?

This thread is definitely headed to 10000!

I would really not like to trade Sean Casey, but his plummet in slg percentage and homers is really rather disturbing.
