Looking at Sean's numbers -- and as I said before I love Sean Casey and wouldn't like to see him traded, but he is slugging .306 with 0 homers. He has a .678 OPS. That is barely acceptable for a middle infielder, let alone a first baseman. Hopefully he will turn it around. But he really hasn't played well since before the ASB of last year. I am concerned with this. Again, I would really hesitate before trading Sean, but its not like this is over 15 AB's. It is close to 100 AB.

The Braves are calling again in search of OF help. Shame they have traded away most of the pitcher's the Reds had coveted.

I think this thread has jumped the shark. It has mutated into an out of control monster.
The Rally Onion wants 150 fans before Opening Day.

Very interesting stuff. TC who are the real talkers and who are the pretenders? It seems to me that from where the Reds are sitting, Cleveland is the most likely trading partner. The A's are not giving up any of their starters and that is who the Reds would be asking for. As stated earlier, the Braves are pretty depleted and Jimbo is not going to be taking any AA or AAA pitchers this year unless they are thrown in with a starter.

The Reds will hold onto White as long as they are in first place. You don't trade away a great season from White as long as everyone is chasing you in the standings.

TC: How about the Yankees? Are they looking at any of the Reds outfielders?

This could be the thread that never ends:

TC, I'd like to har your comments on this Post article.

http://www.cincypost.com/2002/may/10/reds051002.html

This is a good position for the Reds to be in, but also a difficult one. I hope JB keeps Miller and Kearns up to keep the offense hot.

TC, the Reds were said to have been interested in Jeff Weaver a few days ago. I've been watching him since he came up, and I love the guy. He's always pitching late into the game and hasn't had any medical problems that I'm aware of. He's a tough competitor who has been the Tiger's version of Elmer in the lack of run support category.

I almost would rather have Weav's over Colon - or give us both, I wouldn't complain.

Have you heard anything on the inside about Weaver?

Yes I also agree, Thank you TC for your insights...
Question, Who do you see in your article about LaRue, what team he would go to?> and who on that team would we looking at in return??

LOve to see a package to get Texiera from the Rangers.. i know I am dreaming.. but you got to dream big..

Lets get to 300 replies, Team Clark what is your erudite opinion of Tim Belk?

Tim Belk... Tim BELK! Now that is one obscure Red! Mike you really got me there! First I had to look up erudite then I had to find SOMETHING about Tim Belk. We need to have lunch sometime.

Tim Belk a tall, lanky, light hitting first baseman. Tim put up good power numbers in AAA but his career was cut short playing behind Eduardo Perez. Career avg of .200

I have one for you. Gregg Tubbs.

Now back to reality.

I firmly believe the Reds will make a trade when Jr returns. Kearns is the real deal. Dunn is tearing the cover off the ball. Junior will certainly produce in the 3 hole. The odd man out is Encarnacion. Mateo, Clark and Taylor are after thoughts. Encarancion is too expensive to sit on the bench. His value has increased.

I agree that the Reds will keep White as long as they can. He's one of the best LH relievers in Baseball right now. Who would replace him?

LaRue is counting the days until he is moved. Boone wants Jason gone and Jason will be happy to move. Stinnett will need to show he is 100% before any move can be made.

I think Jason would be happiest and well suited to play for the Rangers. There is no guarantee that Pudge will be the catcher he once was if and when he recovers. LaRue also lives in Texas. Good fit. The chances of Texeira is such a long shot. Maybe Jimbo could get Rocker??

Weaver would be a good #2 or #3. I have seen him pitch in person. He has good stuff. He could be a lot better under the tutelage of Gully and Humey.

The Reds had two scouts present for Colon's last start. Colon may be a Red sooner than later.
The Indians continue to watch Encarnacion and Luke Hudson.

The real players in the trading mix are Oakland and Cleveland.

Seattle continues to show interest in Mateo and have also inquired about several Reds' pitchers. With Nelson on the shelf and Sasaki in Japan they may want to move fast.
