Junior is actually 36 years old.

notice that TC hasn't responded -- I really hope that it is not about a trade -- that would be a terrible day...

i agree kitty - but i will be very upset if he wants to be traded...

but i feel bad for him after all this constant criticism and scrutiny he has been under. made seattle seem like a much more tranquil place for him probably...

Lets not put an added pressure on Team Clark.
Let him judge when and if to tell us.

This has to be one of the funniest things I have seen in a while. Everyone just relax. If it is anything big we will here about it soon enough. To be honest a trade request would not surprise. I think Griffey has been treated like crap in cincy by the media mostly. The fans have expected a lot also. Jr. likes to keep to himself, and that hasn't happened all career. However, I think it has been worse since he has come home.

I'm sure it is just Jr talking out of frustration and when he calms down it will all blow over. Between the Sr situation and the Terrible Trio there has been a lot to deal with this past week. Papa needs to put him in a game (just don't let him round 3rd) and let him remember how much he loves playing it.

I would not mind a trade. IF we get a No.1 starter out of it. While I love to watch Jr play
I get tired of his "world's out to get me attitude". I also believe that if the media would leave him alone we would not see this as much from him. I don't think this will ever happen in cincy. So I say trade him and get the best pitcher
you can. We will never win anything until we get a very good No.1 .

Or would you feel like the guy in the dunking booth?

Let us remember that Jr. was getting ready for the baseball season just like the discarded players..... yet he didn't find it in his heart to slam anyone.

Why?

Because he's about playing?

If it was baseball, I would start to wonder whether or not I was appreciated where I played. In fact, I might start to wonder how many other guys in the clubhouse felt the same way. Then I would start asking myself whether I wanted to stay in that clubhouse. I might even start wondering if there was possibly a team closer to home to which I could be traded to. I might even narrow that down to just one team. Then I might even offer defer money to play closer to home. I bet my dad would even enjoy managing me.

But then again, I don't play baseball anymore

Folks,

if Jr wants to be traded, you can be assured that we won't get a #1 pitcher out of it.

It is just like when he demanded to get out of Seattle. We sure didn't give up much to get him.

If Jr says "trade me to Florida", most likely, we get one of their extra young enigma pitchers and a couple of prospects. Certainly not a #1.
[Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob

I believe it would be hard for any of us to operate under the scrutiny that Junior does. Everything he says is scrutinized beyond belief. Everything he does is blown out of proportion. He has some clubhouse trash talk and it's taken personal by his teammates. He leaves early for medical attention and it's considered special treatment. Yes, it'd be hard for me to take.

Putting two and two together (it may add up to 4, and it may not, ya never know):

Item #1: That Junior-friendly article by Seattle Times writer and apparent Junior confidante Larry Stone. The tone of the article beats anything I've read lately from the various Reds-specific Cincinnati and Dayton newspapers.

Item #2: On a local Channel 5/NBC affiliate program called "Evening Magazine", there's supposed to be a piece on still-close-friend Jay Buhner tonight. One of the "hook" ad spots for the program is a statement by Jay, "Junior would come back here in a heartbeat".

I don't know of the context of Jay's remark (yet), but I do know he's been saying that publicly for the past year. I really can't speculate any further, because I cannot imagine any circumstances the Mariners and the Reds would reach some common ground on a trade-back.
