Chicken Boy Rogers and Limpy Palmerio deserve each other

I am so damn sick of all the wailing and gnashing of teeth that we have had to endure while Kenny Rogers consulted his wife to see if he can come out and play.

I know, I know, it's his right as a veteran. He has to do what's right for him. He needs to check with his Feng Shui consultant to see if Cinergy fits into his karmic profile.

SCREW HIM and the monkey he rode in here on!!!!

Brian Moehler may not have Rogers' resume, but the man is a bulldog who wants to play on a contender, and I am damn glad to have him over Chicken Boy.

I have had it up to here with the Prima Donnas!!

Kenny Rogers may have every good reason in the world to have turned this trade down. He may be the smartest damn pitcher in the history of baseball to have hid behind his wife's skirts while he anguished over the certain hell he would have endured in leaving beautiful Arlington Texas (gateway to Mesquite) for Cincinnati for a couple of months. I don't give a rats ass!!!

It's time to circle the wagons and decide who's with us and who's not. And by the way, STOP the whining and crying around here and act like we're in a damn pennant race!!!

This is Cincinnati, for Gods sake. We have a tradition of excellence and hard nosed baseball!!! WE DON'T CRY AND WHINE HERE, WE PLAY HARD NOSED BASEBALL AND WE DON'T MAKE EXCUSES!!!

Yeah, I'm fed up!!! I'm sick beyond description with all the sobbing and sniveling that I read here every stinkin' day!!! We are still in this pennant race, and anybody who thinks otherwise can kiss my rosie red butt!!!

These chances are few and far between, and anybody who feels enlightened by hedging their bets and acting like we don't have a chance just to protect their precious ego needs to go sip a latte and get in touch with their inner child, because now is the time for the true believers to step up and support this great bunch of players!!!

Thank you very much, and God bless America and the Cincinnati Reds.

It's me, and I've definitely snapped.

I have so much had it with all the whining and crying, and logical appeals are beyond my grasp at the moment.

I am so proud of the effort these guys have put out this year, and I'm so disgusted with the detractors, that my normally conciliatory disposition has been overwhelmed.

Random thoughts:

This IS the postseason and we're in it.

We're 1-0 with Moehler on the team. Alert ESPN.

What's Jeff Shaw doing these days?

If everybody hits better in front of Adam Dunn, why not bat him ninth so that everybody hits in front of Adam Dunn?

Was Nomar buying Ted Williams' DNA on eBay?

World Series fantasy: Game 7, Cincinnati vs. Seattle, Moehler vs. Rogers, Griffey goes deep, Redzoners celebrate victory by offering to take Becky to Kings Island, or the Newport Aquarium, or Findlay Market, or the Montgomery Inn, because that's the kind of people we are.

One other thing. Kenny definitely needs to start wearing the Doug Christie jersey.

Damn, RedsFanSince62...good post. And so true. I think that the total disrepect of this franchise from St. Louis, Houston, Pittsburgh (yes...getting the feed from there makes you HATE them), ESPN, and even at home is wearing on me, too. If this franchise had done the right thing it would have given Rogers 24 hrs to accept the trade (I know 72 hrs is standard) and if no decision (if they could) call it off. I've watched others hide behind the matrimonial excuse. Truth is, if they want to play golf, they do. If they want to go out with the boys they do. If they want to come to Cincinnati, they have to ask their wife. BS. He was never coming. You see, he wants an easy trip to the World Series. He'd have to work here!

Yes, this team has been special this year, for all its faults. If we can get Dempster back on track, Moeller pitches like he has recently in Detroit, have a healthy Griffey every day, and we can begin to hit with RISP, we'll be OK. Maybe not get to the playoffs, but a real enjoyable season. And it's a far cry from last year.

I had a boss tell me once that "you're either for us or against us." Same here. Most of the posters on this board (excepting trolls and those from other teams which I've never understood why they want to flame us) are die-hard Reds fans who just want to win. Well, we've got a better chance than ever right now. You have to admit that a rotation of Dessens, Haynes, Dempster, Moeller and Fernandez is much better than what we started out with. And we're only 4.5 games behind. With Griffey looking pretty good and the other additions for the year, I feel pretty good about this team. I'm heading to Cincy on the 31st to see a couple of games. Where will Kenny Rogers be? Oh, I forgot. The WV State Fair (at the same time). Pretty appropriate, if you ask me.

Amen 62!

Obviously, as Reds fans our feathers will be ruffled whenever a player declines an opportunity to play for our team, but I can swear that I'd say this about any guy who turns down a chance to play for any contender.

KENNY ROGERS IS A LOSER, PERIOD!

This to me, explains all you need to know about the Rangers and really, the entire, pathetic Dallas-area metroplex-- I hate it, hey, I am a Redskins fan too you know

But Rogers is a sissy. And I REALLY hope he does accept a trade to someone else so he can also be proven a LIAR in addition to everything else. "Family decesion" my arse. Isn't he going to be on the road with the Rangers half the time anyway? And if he REALLY wanted more time with his family he wouldn't...............play Major League Baseball!

No doubut about it, we're a longshot in this deal, more so than the other teams he's been rumored to. But is he trying to say that he'll only go to sure-fire contenders? What does that say about him? Isn't the point, for HIM to help push a team over the top? In this case, maybe players with no-trade clauses should ONLY accept deals to the Yankees.

Yes, the Rangers clubhouse sounds like a wonderful place, I guess you have a lot of time to chit-chat and play grabass when every game you play is over by the 3rd inning.

I'm not overly upset about losing out on Rogers, it's just the principle than digs at me.

I hope Moehler kicks tail, and I mean this, I hope Kenny Rogers gets shelled every time he pitches for the rest of his career.

Wow, 62!!! I had to do a double-take on who posted this! I agree with your thoughts for the most part and of course share in your frustrations. The dragging out of the decision bothered me too. I am more inclined to really respect that Rogers wanted to continue to play in Texas or wherever he wants to play), but taking sooo long and being as apparently as wishy-washy as it appeared he was really seemd silly. As far as I was concerned, as soon as he hedged at all I didn't really want him. On to the present....

I sure hope Moehler has it as together as his recent outings indicate. As I posted at the time, I saw him pitch in Toledo and he got hit pretty hard. The velocity was low and his location was off after the 1st couple innings. That said, I was impressed with how he stuck with it - something I probably did not report at the time. He seemed every bit the bulldog 62 describes. And there is no arguing that he seems to have improved (recovered) from the outing I witnessed. And finally, to further discredit my own initial opinion , it was only one outing! Talk about your small sample size!! Anyway, I am optimistic about the addition of Brian and welcome him with open arms. Sunny does too.

If he ends up in ST. Louis, someone might really get ticked off.
Like the Reds-Seattle world series idea.

OK Gallagher! What did you do with the real rfs62!

Good post, and I couldn't agree with you more. I have been enjoying the heck out of this season. So I made up my mind a couple months ago to ignore alot that is posted on here. That's sad! But I don't like it when people try to "pee in my Wheaties!" . There's alot of good people on here. But there are some who take this game soooo seriously that they squeeze all the fun & enjoyment out of it.

I thought it was funny, over the course of these last several days while we were waiting on Rogers descision, how this forum exploded with the dozens & dozens of threads on the topic. I can never understand why people need to start all these different threads on one topic, and then drive it into the ground!

I also enjoyed all the threads asking the where abouts of TCII & Redstorm. First, alot of people railed on them and called them every name in the book...and then they post for them to come back & give them more tidbits!

Reminds me of that scene in Animal House where the pledges are being initiated by bending over in their underwear and getting wacked with a huge paddle and screaming... "THANK YOU SIR CAN I HAVE ANOTHER?"
