What are the chances the Reds could sign Weaver for one year?

Completely hypothetical...I personally don't see it happening but I was listening to MLB on XM today on my way home from New York and heard that Weaver may look to sign a one year deal in order to get to a BIGGER multi-year deal next offseason.

With the new attitude and the new ownership is Weaver someone that we could sign for an outrageous one year contract and benefit from and could he benefit from being in Cincy?

Not at 35 hr where most of his time is spent in an pitcher friendly park.

He'd have worse numbers than Milton did last year.

Weaver needs to go to Detroit or San Diego or Tampa Bay, sign a one year deal, and pull the wool over someone elses eyes.

Year before he only gave up 16 homers.

Inside scoop.....Weaver is considering a one year deal just as Matt Morris did last season, but since he was offered & rejected arbitration he will cost whomever signs him a high draft pick and nobody wants to give up a pick for a one year rental job. Word is that Weaver will only consider a west coast team or a strong contender on a one year deal. Anaheim, San Diego, and Atlanta seem to be the names popping up most frequently. Supposedly Washington and Baltimore want him but he's not interested. Baltimore's probably out with getting Kris Benson anyway.

If Weaver would take $5M hw would be our #3 starter, but a) he won't, b) he won't come here if he's looking to pad stats, and c) DanO won't give up a 1st round draft pick for him. Dead issue.

Even if DanO is doing the picking?

I would say not very good. If what I saw on him was correct. The asking price is way too high for the caliber of pitcher he is, which is a good indication why he is still available.

The Reds need long term fixes in pitching, not for a year in which they won't contend anyway.

Ya think Boras would take $500,000 plus an incentive laden contract for Innings Pitched and Homers Against???
