    Rank the NL Shortstops...

Here's my list...feel free to bash it. And you can call me a Reds homer if you want, but I really do think FeLo should be at the top of the list:

    1. Felipe Lopez CIN
    2. Rafael Furcal LAD
    3. Jimmy Rollins PHI
    4. Edgar Renteria ATL
    5. David Eckstein STL
    6. Clint Barmes COL
    7. Jack Wilson PIT

That seems about right, but I'd swap Barmes (when healthy) for Eckstein. Overall, that's a pretty sad statement about the current crop of NL shortstops.

    Re: Rank the NL Shortstops...

Consider age, defense, their last few seaons, and likely performance level this year I'd probably put it like this:

    1. Rafael Furcal
    2. Felipe Lopez
    3. Edgar Renteria
    4. Jimmy Rollins
    5. Khalil Greene (flashy glove, good potential bat)
    6. David Eckstein (just pure solid)
    7. Cesar Izturis (Best defender, 26, capable of .330 OBP)
    8. JJ Hardy (23 yrs old, 44 BB, 48 K, 32 XBH in 372 AB)
    9. Jose Reyes (Just 23, if he ever learns to walk he could steal 80 bases)
    10. Jack Wilson (1 good year)
    11. Clint Barmes (.635 Road OPS)

Felipe ranks number one on my list, when he is batting left-handed, at home...

Khalil Green and JJ Hardy will be very good someday.

Of the group, Wilson and Izturis are the best defenders.

Lopez is the best hitting SS in the NL, and should be for years to come.

Overall, Furcal is probably the best in terms of combined offense and defense.

Yes it is. Which, IMHO, is all the more reasons for the Reds to hang on to Lopez.
