The way I figure it, it took Castellini all weekend to read through the threads on the subject here.
Now he's caught up.

As I think about it I'm sure Castellini had someone waiting in the wings to be GM as soon as he took control. The question is, who is it?Originally Posted by WVRed

Reds confirmed O'Brien is gone, per Seg.
Kullman is the new interm GM.
Dan O'Brien has been fired and Brad Kullman will serve as the interim general manager. The rest of the baseball operations staff, including assistant GM and farm director Tim Naehring, will remain on board.

sorry...already covered above.
Glad it's confirmed. I was 99.9% on the info, but still had the scare that SOMETHING would go wrong and if it turned out to be faulty info, 73 members currently on this thread and more later would be hunting me down. I'm more than comfortable with Brad Kullman as interim GM.
5pm news conference [IIRC]. Sorry, but I'm working and listen to WLW with one ear...

Boy, first I owe everyone some pretzels with the Aurilia thing, now this and my prediction that O'Brien was a sure thing to finish his contract. Maybe I should predict the Reds' pitching will lead the NL this year so I can get one right.
Kullman is a solid guy, but he shouldn't be talking to the fans much- I remember the "Fire Sale" '03 debacle on WLW where he was all spazzed out in an Andy Furman "interview". A trainwreck.
Holy Fungo bats, Batman!
This is the best I've felt with my pants on for quite some time!
We'll burn that bridge when we get to it.
Should I keep my promise to buy a season ticket package now that there is a glimmer of hope?

So, I wonder if Castellini has had this planned for some time or if it was something he just came to the conclusion to recently?
I'm not sure we'll ever know the answer. It does seem that DanO was on a short leash for some time now.
