FWIW, Castellini definitely used the pronouns "he" and "his" in discussing the next GM during today's presser. I read into it that Kim Ng was not someone who came to his mind as a candidate for the job.

ahhhhhhhhhhhh.
it may be dark outside, but the world seems so much brighter right now.
thanks a lot, Dan0 - don't let the door hit you too hard.

The Enquirer poll now has it 857-42 in favor of DanO's firing, a 95% approval rate. When is the last time the Reds ever did something so popular?
"Hey...Dad. Wanna Have A Catch?" Kevin Costner in "Field Of Dreams."
Oh, I know. And I'm not even sold on Ng being one of the top candidates anyway. While I believe she is more qualified than quite a few other people, I'd personally much rather have DePodesta, Forst or Krivsky in here than her.Originally Posted by Unassisted

Added to the Enquirer story:
Tonight, O'Brien said he was surprised by the decision. "Anytime there's ownership change, you know that's their prerogative to bring in their own people, but even with that understood, today was a surprise."
Also this, which I haven't seen posted yet:
"I'm very high on Brad," Castellini said. "I told him if he doesn't get the job, he'd better not leave us."
The leading outside candidates are likely to be Wayne Krivsky, an assistant general manager for Minnesota, and Jim Beattie, the former Baltimore Orioles general manager.
Castellini said Beattie will join the organization as a special consultant in the next week or so to evaluate the team's pitching.
"He's going to look at our pitching from soup to nuts," Castellini said. "I also suspect he'll be a candidate for the (GM) job."
"Krivsky said this afternoon that he has not been contacted by the Reds."

I think I'd prefer Kullman or Krivsky over Beattie. I might even prefer Kullman the most overall of those three.
Yeah, I checked Beattie's drafts with the Expos, not overly impressed though that 2000 draft with Sizemore,Bay,Wayne and Lee was pretty chic. His baseball moves were O'brien like bad.Originally Posted by Falls City Beer
They hire him, Cast just layed a major major egg IMO.
Nobody has mentioned Dean Taylor. He has GM experience, so it's conceivable he would apply for the job. Although the fact that he was hired by DanO can't be working in his favor.
I wonder if DePodesta will even get an interview?
The more I read about Beattie the less I like him, I hope he isn't the guy, and I can't understand for the life of me why the Red Sox were interested in him.
If it was down to those three, I'd take Kullman in a second.Originally Posted by CincyRedsFan30
I'd take a few more Harang's and Claussen's under high-pressure situations.
