I remember him most for his ruthless character in "Reservoir Dogs" and as the murdering pool cleaner in "Short Cuts."

Stick to your guns.
Also played the cop in Starsky and Hutch I believe. Always sad to see someone die young.
I'll always remember Chris Penn in his role in "At Close Range" (a very underrated flick). He played...Sean Penn's brother.
After that, he simply didn't seem to be able to keep his weight under control. Don't know how that affected his death, but I always thought he was an actor who brought real depth to the supporting roles he played. I'm sad to learn that he's no longer with us.

It seems there were a lot of movies that he was in that I enjoyed. One of my favorites with him in it was True Romance (an All Star cast in that one). Sad to hear that he is gone.

He was also Kevin Bacon's friend in "Footloose."
RIP.
i've always enjoyed him. strange enough, it seemed every time i saw his name in the credits, i would say to myself "Oh, Great. Chris Penn"...then inevitably end up liking his roll. a very underappreciated actor.
i also wonder, Steel, if his weight attributed. they guy was starting to look terrible.
may he rest in peace.
Yep. The photo in that link is from the Starsky and Hutch premiere.Originally Posted by Caseyfan21

I don't say that to pick on him. It's just highly unusual.

Man! He really put on some weight!
I remember him in Pale Rider.

I was always amazed at the level of talent in the Penn family. Michael Penn is a great musician, and both Chris and Sean are talented actors. I liked Chris as an actor better than Sean (probably because of the roles Sean chose).

Will trade this space for a #1 starter.
"I'm guessing heart attack"
Possible but he still seems a little young for that despite his weight problem.
My guess is something drug/alcohol related..
40 is a little young for a massive MI? Hardly.Originally Posted by Maldonado
