    Kearns to KC?

Rotoworld has an article from the KC Star- stating the Royals and Reds could be in trade talk with Austin Kearns being the main discussion.

Despite the addition of Reggie Sanders to their outfield, the Royals still have a great deal of interest in Austin Kearns, according to the Kansas City Star.
It's safe to assume that they're still not giving up Zack Greinke for him, though. Maybe they'd part with either Mike MacDougal or Jeremy Affeldt along with a starter such as Runelvys Hernandez or Denny Bautista. Maybe the Reds would even want both relievers, with the idea that Affeldt could go back into the rotation. If the Royals acquired Kearns, Emil Brown would likely be shoved into a reserve role. I would rather have them keep Ears then trade him for a couple of pitchers that have had arm problems.

Start with J.P. Howell and you may have something. No Howell, no deal.

I believe relievers and developing a bullpen is easier than most think so I consider their value to be considerably less. We need a starter for kearns, young power hitting outfielders who can play solid defense are rare in baseball.

Kearns for Greinke sounds OK to me. Especially if they throw in MacDougal or Affeldt.

I posted on the other forum that the first person who mentions Zach Greinke in a deal for Kearns gets thumped in the head. You win, Benihana.

OnBaseMachine is on the right track. Lefty J.P. Howell is the key to any deal with the Royals.

i seem to remember that too. he had decentish numbers in the low minors, which was enough for KC to throw him onto the big club. his arm and development have suffered since. it's a shame too. he looked liked he could have been a 3/4 starter, now he's going to be one hangers on #5/long relief guys once his arb years pass.

if you've ever seen footage of Hernandez pitching last year, and compare his stuff to 2002 when he was first called up, he doesn't even look close to having the same stuff...or mechanics for that matter.

10 teams in the mix for a trade Kullman says? Most if not all have an interest in Kearns I'm guessing? I'm with Funky....enough of the troubled arms. If that's all that KC's willing to part with, then so be it. There ought to be equal if not better offers elsewhere.

    Re: Kearns to KC?

If a trade of Kearns to KC happened, I'd want J.P. Howell and a prospect. Two that I like are OF Billy Butler and SP Luis Cota.
