Well, only one of those guys was illegally placing bets on the team while managing them, risking both the success of his team and the integrity of the game itself in order to cater to an out of control gambling addiction. Still, Bob Boone was clearly the worst, and it's not even close.

Boone was the worst and most annoying to me.
Easily Bob Boone. Ray Knight is up there, but at least Knight was a competitive guy who hated losing.
Obviously Nixon and Rapp weren't very good, but the teams they had were pretty bad, too. Plus, it's hard to tell how decent someone is after just one year. Or 44 games, for that matter.

Knight, atleast Boone was a nice guy.

It pains to me to even think about it. I'd say Boone, Rapp and Rose, but none of the managers mentioned above were very good.
Vern Rapp (in way over his head)
Dave Miley (Casey in the three hole, also did not handle pitching staff well)
Russ Nixon (just bad)
Bob Boone (Adam Dunn --- leadoff)
Wasn't Pete in 2nd in '85,86,87,and '88? If the wildcard was in effect back then, they would had made the playoffs a couple of times there with making trades at the deadline and etc
John, I think the reason Pete's name is mentioned here is because of the gambling...not his managerial record. My worst would have to be Bob Boone.
I actually thought Ray Knight was a good choice at the time....maybe he was too competitive for his own good.
