The Ballad of Jayne - L.A. Guns

L.A. Guns had some good rockers that did well chart wise, albeit not as good as "Jayne".
"Never Enough" and "Kiss My Love Goodbye" also did well.

    Safety Dance---Men Without Hats

I know it was a stupid song but it had a good beat and it was easy to dance to.

    Paul Carrick - Don't Shed a Tear

Cab fare to nowhere is what you are
A white line to an exit sign is what you are
Oh but I saw in you, now I see through

    CHORUS:

Don't shed a tear for me, my life won't end without you
Long as the night will be, the sun will rise without you
A locked door on a candy store is what you are
A slim chance in tight pants is what you are
All that I loved you for, I want it more

    CHORUS

You ain't giving what I'm not taking
I'm not missing what we ain't making
Oh but I saw in you, now I see through

    CHORUS TWO TIMES

    Don't shed no tears,
    I don't need , I don't need
    I don't need a thing

    Such a good breakup song.

    Jesse's Girl - Rick Springfield
Rick Springfield was not a one-hit wonder -- far from it. He hit the charts with a number of songs in the early-to-mid 80's, including "Human Touch", "Don't Talk to Strangers", the unfortunate "Bop 'til You Drop", and my personal fave "Love Somebody".

    My own one-hit-wonder list includes:"

Come On Eileen - Dexy's Midnight Runners
99 Luftbaloons (in the original Deutch) - Nena
    Crash - The Primitives
Prime Mover - Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction (I don't know if this even qualifies as a "hit")
Song 2 - Blur (mandatory kickoff music at every NFL game)

Oh, now I take issue with this one...Blur is an amazing band, they've been around for at least 15 years (and still going strong) and have seven albums to their credit. They are one of the most respected bands in Europe. Their members spawned Gorillaz as well as a couple of very interesting side projects. Here in America, yes that was their biggest hit and it kind of gets to me that it's what they're known for...but even here that's not the ONLY thing they're known for, they have a lot of fans and I daresay some other hit songs too. Girls & Boys, There's No Other Way...uh, these are well-known songs, right? I think?

Yeah, I don't know how to consider the metal/hair band that had the obligatory ballad that charted well. I was into that genre of music at the time, so from my POV then they are definitely not one-hit wonders. But I can certainly understand and those who consider them such.

Ah, but Song 2 is the only song that charted in the U.S., hence the "one-hit wonder" title.

This principle can also be applied to decent bands like L.A. Guns (who made good music, but only produced one "hit") and incredible artists like Michael Penn ("No Myth" was one of his only hits, but probably the worst song on his "March" album).

We're talking strictly charted hits, here.

Technically....Jimi Hendrix was a 1 hit wonder........... how sad is that.

But you are not going to put him and Tommy James and the Shondels....or Paul revere and the Raiders in the same category. Even though the latter 2 had more "Hits"
