    Beattie Gone Already?

I see that Jim Beattie's role as "special adviser" is already over. That was a short contract. What could he possibly have advised on other than the GM job for which he was a major candidate? I wonder why he was "hired" rather than just interviewed like everyone else? This area seems to be a bit fuzzy

Doesn't take long to evaluate the Reds pitching.

    Memo to Castellini:

    Bob, they suck.

    Thanks for the opportunity,

Bob needed to hire a special adviser to see that?

    Yeah,
The other option could have been....

    Bob:
Keep Bailey and Wood. They ought to be good by the time your great grandkids are old enough to enjoy watching them. The rest you can do with what you want.

Man, I'd like to have that gig. Hang around here for 2 weeks and turn in a report saying the pitching stinks.

    Re: Beattie Gone Already?

I wonder if Beattie came in thinking because of his ties with Castellini he'd be a sure in for the GM job...obviously that was proven otherwise.

    I don't know, just speculation....

It's so Funny because it is so true. Another classic from '62.

    (Hey that rhymes)
It's absolutely pathetic that people can't have an opinion from actually watching games and supplementing that with stats. If you voice an opinion that doesn't fit into a black/white box you will get completely misrepresented and basically called a tobacco chewing traditionalist...
