    It has happened

I'm 42 years old, and when I let my hair grow out it's 50 percent gray. I went to one of those Old Country Buffets with friends. I told the young lady at the register, 1 please? She said, 1 what? I said, 1 dinner, what do you mean? She said, 1 adult or senior? It just hit me like a big brick, I'm an old man. It's funny because, just two months ago, I went to a "Guess Your Age" booth and the guy guessed I was 36 years old. I'm going to get a short hair cut today.

First time it happened to me was at the local Back Yard Burgers, and I wanted to drag the young girl across the counter and smack her. Man, that hurt.

Time to buy a red Miyata, RBA!
I don't keep a goatee anymore because it's got a lot of gray in it. I am lucky to have a lot of hair and it's very thick. However, my grandfather, whom I closely resemble had hair that I only remember as white. My mom said he went gray in about a year in his forties. I turn 41 this year.

Well, on the positive side, I still have hair. My dad was gray/white in his 40's.

I'm in my early 40's and my hair is half gray and I am not balding. My dad's hair was all white by his late 20's, I don't remember him having anything but all white hair.

My Dad's hair turned completely white around 65 - my Mom's turned in her late 70's (but she kept dying it blonde). My second oldest sister turned completely gray around 45. I'm pretty much salt and pepper - but more pepper. Right now my roots (both gray and dark brown) are showing :.

Mine left me when I was in my 20s. I woke up one day and just decided it was time to shave it all off with a razor.

I'm so used to it now that I wouldn't have my hair back if you paid me. I love being totally bald.

It is weird, though, seeing the bits of gray around my temples, though.

I'd rather be gray than balding. Too bad we can't choose. Oh, well...

    Re: It has happened

I'm 31 and have recently started to gray ever so slightly in a couple of spots only my wife notices. But I agree with others, I'd much rather gray than recede. As long as it's still there, I won't complain. My brother started to seriously reced at 20 years old. He's 26 now and it don't look pretty.

My brothers both have little hair left on top, while I'm a werewolf, by comparison. The up side is that both of them have something like Dom's approach. Neither totally shaves, but they keep it pretty close cut. Less maintenance, they say, than shaving. I would never say it to them, having a full head of thick hair and knowing that it would sound patronizing, but I think they both look great.

I had a professor come to class one night, and she appeared really, really agitated and not herself. Before class started, someone asked her about it, and she confessed she'd had a bad day ... that this happened, and then that, and then ... she got her invitation to join the AARP. She was about to turn fifty.

    Re: It has happened

I am 31 and have been shaving my head for about 4 years now. Whole receding hairline thing going on and all and I just figured I'd rather look like I shaved it on purpose than look like the balding guy in his mid 20's.

Anyways, the other day I'm at the store purchasing a movie and I guess when the cashier rang it up it came back as needing ID shown because it was rated R. The lady hit me up for the ID and stared at it for about 15 seconds and was blabbering on and on about how there's no way I could be 31 and how she would have guessed me for 23 or so. Needless to say my day was made.
