Mark Lacnaster talks with Johnny Almaraz

In the meantime, he said his approach will center on simplifying things and emphasizing fundamentals. In addition, he'll keep up the changes already put in motion by Tim Naehring and Grant Griesser, with an eye toward making sure each player's specific needs are addressed more readily than in the past.

"We’re going to individualize every single program for every guy in the system," said Almaraz. "That’ll be the big positive. And of course, the take-a-strike, we’ve modified that, that’s no longer going to exist. Pitch counts will exist, but it’s not one blanket program. If it needs to exist for a certain individual, it will. If it doesn’t for another, it won’t."

By the way, his title also includes the "director of international operations" tag. In that role, he'll oversee all of the Reds' international programs, mainly in Latin America, including scouting. But it doesn't sound as if he'll be doing as much international scouting himself as has been the case in the past.
Thought some of this might spark up some discussion.

Sounds like Johnny Almaraz has some juice in this organization.

Re: Mark Lacnaster talks with Johnny Almaraz

Johnny was one of less than a handful of scouts that had "signing authority". Says a lot about Johnny and less about their current staff. I'd be willing to bet the farm all that will be changed when contracts expire in Oct.
It's absolutely pathetic that people can't have an opinion from actually watching games and supplementing that with stats. If you voice an opinion that doesn't fit into a black/white box you will get completely misrepresented and basically called a tobacco chewing traditionalist...

"We’re going to individualize every single program for every guy in the system," said Almaraz.
So every player in the Reds' system has an IEP? Will they also start riding in smaller buses?
    I'm not a system player. I am a system.
