Are the Reds attempting to corner the market on small, fast and low OBP type players?

Spring training should be interesting... backup A went 5-19, backup B went 6-17... decision time! I suppose we won't have trouble filling out a B-squad roster.

If only we could trade Quinton for his distant cousin Voros.

This signing is not a bad move. This provides depth to the team and he might be able to be flipped for some prospects.

Quintion (kiss) McCracken? (That's best said with a Scottish accent)

Clearly when coupled with Timo Perez and Scott Hatteberg signings it indicates the "Power of Tradition" will also take us back to the glory days of when the Reds cornered the market on guys with interesting names like Motorboat Jones and Skeeter Barnes.

McCracken should not be on any major league roster. He is worthless. Hopefully he will be AAA fodder.

    McCracken 2005 .237/.313/.298/.611
    McCracken 2002 .309/.367/.458/.825
    McCracken Career .276/.337/.375/.712

He's 35. If the Reds get the 2002 Quinton McCracken, it would be nice, but I don't see it happenning. He also strikes out quite a bit for those that tend to care about that kind of thing.

Quinton is like Timo Perez, only older and worse in the field. But I guess he doesn't have visa problems.

I think McDonalds has a copyright on that name. They sell that product out the back door in certain markets.

I read the post title and got excited thinking the Reds' front office had lured Voros McCracken away from Boston ...

I don't think Voros McCracken works for the Red Sox any more. He may be a free agent.

Ernie McCracken had a pretty good hook.
The Sox traded Bullfrog the only player they've got for Shottenhoffen. Four-eyes Shottenhoffen a utility infielder. They've got a whole team of utility infielders.

I think there's something else in the works with signing Hatteberg. I'm thinking another outfielder's going somewhere (perhaps for pitching) and Dunn'll go back to the outfield. My son commented on this when I told him about picking up Hatteberg.
