    Reds sign Tuffy Rhodes

This came down on the AP wires....

McCracken, Rhodes get minor league deals

CINCINNATI (AP) - Outfielders Quinton McCracken and Tuffy Rhodes
agreed to minor league deals today with the Cincinnati Reds.
The 35-year-old McCracken has played for Colorado, Tampa Bay,
Minnesota, Seattle and Arizona during an 11-year career.
Rhodes is 37 years old and grew up in Cincinnati. He played for
the Astros, the Cubs and the Red Sox before going to Japan, where
he spent the last 10 years.

    According to this http://www.baseballlibrary.com/baseb...odes_Tuffy.stm

He tied the Japanese Record for most HRs in a season(55) in 2001/

I assumed this had to be a joke, the Rhodes part anyway.

Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:
    Cincinnati Reds - 75, 76, 90
    Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13, 15
    University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12
    Chicago Bulls - 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98

I thought that was a joke title when I first read it. Louisville certainly will have an interesting team next year.

Edit: Looks like I'm a touch slow, but at least I wasn't the only one fooled!

2005 batting .240, and still hitting 27 homers? How short are the walls over there?

These signings mean absolutley nothing except to make sure the young players work their a$$es off in ST.

The young players are going to see these older guys playing their hearts out trying to make the team and it will up competition. And if one of them has a great spring, so what, they'll be the 5th OFer over Cruz or a young Denorfia.

All these minor league contracts amount to nothing unless one of them has a incredible spring.

    Holy cow,

Tuffy walks a ton. Looks like Krivsky is putting SABREmatics in action.

If only we could get Donnie Sadler back, this lineup would be complete.
We'll burn that bridge when we get to it.
