    Red Legs and Black Sox

Thought some of you might be interested in this book. This book examines the 1919 World Series from the perspective of the Reds. If you go to the website there's also an unpublished chapter in there about when Edd Roush got the call about being elected into the HOF.

I'll be picking up Dellinger's book along with Gene Carney's Burying the Black Sox ... probably at the same time since the latter will be out in a month. They're both likely tremendous reads and should have quite a bit of new information surrounding the scandal.

Re: Red Legs and Black Sox

I'm so far behind on reading books that I should. It seems like at school I can read only one or two books a quarter during any free time I have. Over winter break I just finished reading "The Boys of Summer" and last summer on vacation I finally read "Moneyball." My next project will be to read "Shoeless Joe" as I have been wanting to read the book behind my favorite movie.

Both of these look very interesting and will have to be added to a list I keep of books I'd like to read. That list keeps growing and growing and it will probably take me till I die to get through them all.

For those interested, Eliot Asimov's book "Eight Men Out" is still a great read.

Re: Red Legs and Black Sox

I ordered this off of Amazon. Living in Chicago, I attend my fair share of White Sox games. I often try to start drunken shoting matches by yelling - "the 1919 Reds would have crushed the White Sox anway!" I have literally no facts to back this up (I usually just scream "Ed Roush was a million times better than Shoeless Joe Jackson!" again, with no evidence), so hopefully this book will give me some.

The Reds had more junkballlers than the Sox, but the Sox had Dave Danforth so that could totally trump the Reds trick pitchers.
