Mr. Krivsky, please draft this guy

As a fan of USC baseball, I had the privilege of watching Kennedy on TV last year during the CWS. This guy has great stuff - low 90's fastball, very good slider, and a changeup. He could probably go straight to High-A and reach the majors within two years of being drafted. He should be available when the Reds pick at #7. Grab him Wayne.

History Almost Made In No. 25 USC's 10-1 Defeat Of Kansas

Ian Kennedy was one out away from a no-hitter in day one action at Public Storage Baseball Classic.

    Box Score

LOS ANGELES --- Junior All-America pitcher Ian Kennedy was one out away from a no-hitter Friday as the No. 25 USC Trojans defeated the Kansas Jayhawks, 10-1, in day one action at the Public Storage Baseball Classic. Ritchie Price spoiled Kennedy's bid on the first pitch with a single to center in the ninth after Kennedy had struck out 13 batters.

USC (6-3) won its sixth straight game after an 0-3 start to the 2006 season. Kennedy's feat was remarkable, considering there was a 40-minute rain delay. After the delay, Kennedy walked Price and then retired the next 13 Jayhawk batters.

On the evening, Kennedy (2-1) allowed one unearned run on a hit with three walks. It was the 10th time in his career that Kennedy has registered double digits in strikeouts. He becomes just the seventh Trojan in history to record 300 or more strikeouts in his career (Kennedy now has 308 career strikeouts). In three starts this season, Kennedy is now 2-1 with a 1.25 ERA (9 H, 3 ER, 6 BB, 30 SO, .127 opponents' batting average).

The Trojans touched up Kansas starter Sean Land (2-1) with six runs in 4 2/3 innings on seven hits. Matt Cusick and Cyle Hankerd (Covina/South Hills HS) had three hits each for the Trojans. Hankerd and Blake Sharpe extended their season-opening hitting streaks to nine games. Hankerd is currently batting .514 with three home runs and 18 RBI.

Tomorrow's action begins at 1 p.m. with Kansas playing San Diego with USC hosting Vanderbilt in a 5 p.m. game. Gametracker live stats will be available for both games on usctrojans.com. USC's game will be broadcast live, along with live video streaming.

That's an average of over 8 k's per appearance? Not too bad. He sounds like a pretty dominant pitcher. That k/BB ratio is unreal.

    Freshman-11.7 K per 9
    Soph.-12.2 K per 9
    Jr.-12.7 K per 9

    Career-12 K per 9

This is coming against the best competition in college baseball. They have had a top 3 schedule the last two or three years.

USC has a strong tradition of producing great pitchers(Tom Seaver, Bill Lee, Randy Johnson, Barry Zito, Mark Prior, Anthony Reyes) and I feel that Kennedy is the next great one. Hopefully Wayne K can grab him up at #7 overall.

In a very early projection, Baseball America has LA taking him (hometown choice) one slot ahead of the Reds. If he continues to dominate, he won't make it to #8.

LA has the deep pockets to pick the "best talent" regardless of signability. They will honk some of us on draft day.
The Sox traded Bullfrog the only player they've got for Shottenhoffen. Four-eyes Shottenhoffen a utility infielder. They've got a whole team of utility infielders.
