    Re: Trade Proposal: CIN/SF

    No thanks on that one.

If we must trade an outfielder, then I would deal Pena to the Mets for a package including Aaron Heilman and either John Maine or Phil Humber.

I'd do your trade too. But would the Mets?

The Giants could potentially have eight OF on the major league roster opening day.
(Alou, Bonds, Finley, Winn, Ellison, Linden, Sweeney and Feliz)

They aren't dealing for another one.

Are you kidding? We're talking about the team who traded arguably the best pitching prospect in baseball for Victor Zambrano. They'd jump all over that deal!

I would definitely do the SF deal. Noah Lowry is a really good established young LH starting pitcher. We could start Denorfia or something.

I seriously doubt the Giants would do that deal. I'd do it in a heartbeat.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Three of the eight are over 40 or close to it (Bonds, Finley and Alou), Winn just signed the big contract, but the other guys are terrible. Sweeney and Feliz are pinch hitter, infielder types. Ellison and Linden aren't much to write home about.
