NFL Network looking to bring Ryan Leaf in for Draft day

    Brilliant idea

    http://www.nypost.com/sports/62998.htm
March 10, 2006 -- Who would be better to talk about the pressure of the NFL Draft than perhaps the biggest bust in league history?

NFL Network - which for the first time will provide counter-coverage to ESPN's presentation on April 29 - is interested in having Ryan Leaf, the 1998 No. 2 pick, as part of its draft show, an NFL Network spokesman confirmed.

Last month, Leaf accepted a job to be the quarterback coach for West Texas A&M University. Leaf would likely be part of a round-table of players on the show.

"We think he would offer a unique perspective,'' an NFL Network spokesman said.

Actually, I heard Leaf on the Dan Patrick show and the guy has really finally 'grown up.'

He had some interesting takes on the draft and what it takes to play in the NFL. He really came across well and expressed what I interpreted as true contrition for his previous--numerous--blunders.

I actually like Mel Kiper. It's Chris Berman for 20+ hours that I can't stand.

Next year its Akili, a number 3 overall, as they rotate down all the first round QB busts by number of pick.

A player needs to hire Leaf as his agent and just do the opposite of whatever Leaf tells him to do.

Maybe, but then you have to worry about him crying and all that.

The more I think about it, I don't think any of the first round QB's this year will be successful.
