University of Cincinnati director of athletics Mike Thomas has appointed two new administrators and reorganized the external affairs area of the athletic department staff.
Mike Waddell, associate athletic director for external affairs at the University of Akron the past five years, is joining UC as senior associate athletic director for external relations. He will oversee the external relations areas, including the ticket office, athletic communications, marketing, promotions, ISP as well as licensing and merchandising.
Andy Hurley, who has headed the athletic development efforts at the University of Buffalo the past nine years, has been named associate athletic director for development. He succeeds Bill Mulvihill, who recently left that position after 25 years with the athletic department to become deputy executive director of UC Foundation.
"Mike and Andy bring a great wealth of experience to our staff," stated Thomas. "Mike has proven that he can increase revenue through a coordinated management effort of the external affairs areas. Andy has great accumen as a fund, and friend-raiser, who will build onto the fine work Bill Mulvihill has done here."
Brian Teter, associate AD, will shift his responsibilities to the athletic communications efforts in football. Tom Hathaway will become responsible for men's basketball media relations.
