The Curse of the Village People

On May 22, 2002 the Reds were 14-8 and had just were riding a six game winning streak. That day, several Reds players dressed as members of the Village People to promote a post game Village People concert scheduled for June 21.

Adam Dunn dressed as the Indian.
Brady Clark and Corky Miller dressed as the Cowboy.
Gookie Dawkins dressed as the Sailor.
Austin Kearns and Jose Rijo dressed as the Construction Worker.
Aaron Boone dressed as the guy in leather.
Sean Casey dressed as the Cop.

Only Kearns and Dunn are still with the Reds. Since filming that commercial, the Reds have gone 282-344.

If the Cubs can blame a goat, I blame the Village People. The only way I can see exorcising this demon of disco is to have a day of burning Village People albums at the ballpark.
My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!

perhaps we could reverse the curse by having the players dress as good players, say The Beatles as Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band...
no...wait. could be confused with the Bee Gees.

    back to the drawling board.

Not to be picky, sava, but... the REDS were 28-18 after the May 22, 2002 game. After the April 27, 2002 game, they were 14-8 and had won 6 games in a row.

I still blame it on the Village People!

Yeah, your record makes more sense.
