    U.S. Men's National Team v. Germany TODAY @ 2:30

Another World Cup friendly. Most England-based yanks were not made available b/c this is not a FIFA open date. Germany, however, coming off a 4-1 drubbing by Italy, is looking to quiet the near country-wide hysteria with the World Cup mere months away...

Look for an extremely motivated FULL German Squad to make this a very difficult match for the USA today. Playing w/o a full squad combined with the German's determination to assuage their country's fears will make this a difficult game for the Yanks to secure a result.

With the match being played in Germany, I think that while a draw would be an extremely acceptable result, the most important thing is the evaluation of the players on the pitch today as Bruce Arena continues to decide who will comprise his final 23 this June.

I would call this American team a solidly B squad, all things considered.

The wheels fell off the bus in the second half, 4-0 Germany in the 85th minute.

Great 1st half, 10 minutes of lack of focus = 3 goals for Germany.

Saw some great play out of Bobby Convey & Pablo Mastroeni... None of the goals were saveable by Keller...

Considering who we were playing with and how badly Germany wanted this game, I'm OKAY with what happened today. It just reinforces how little room for error and lack of focus we'll have in Germany this summer.

Oh yeah: And my man of the match for the U.S. today: Cory Gibbs. The dude was straight money. If he's healthy this summer, he'll start.

Arena was pretty irritated. He blamed himself, saying he never should have scheduled this game. Too many key players were unavailable and it showed.
