This new show on HBO is dealing with some very interesting characters and developing situations and relationships... I really like Bill (the main character played by Bill Paxton) and nearly ever character is very interesting. A LOT is going on, and it's nearly all well worth following. I predict another HIT for HBO. (I know, I know, what a stretch)
Yep, I'm really enjoying this as well. I've been pretty interested in Mormons since reading Under the Banner of Heaven, and I'm pretty psyched about this show. First two episodes have been pretty good.

Watching people live the principle and life w/in a fundamentalist compound makes Big Love quite interesting also. I just read it recently too, the subject matter is however a "fringe" aspect of the religion and tends to be displayed at levels that extend far beyond the reality oif the situation.
At least based on my experience, but the show is interesteting, but it does generate a whole array of insults and dismay from my wife at the woman on the show.
I got it that it was the fundamentalist fringe element practicing the principle these days, woy, and of course Big Love is focusing on this aspect. The founder of the religion did start it w/ one of his "revelations," however, and these small fundmentalist groups dotted around parts of the west (US and Canada) and some in Central America, try to follow the tenants of Joseph Smith to the extreme...at least according to the book.

Look, I don't consider myself prudish by any sense, but I am giving it one or two more and I'm out. I liked the first episode somewhat, but this last one didn't tie me over to the next.
I read in a review in The New Yorker that it doesn't start getting really good until around the 5th episode.
