Well, if he hit it off Reds pitching it doesn't count.

If he could put all that effort into getting himself where he is now, why can't he put in that same effort into getting better?

Just seems to me after watching him throughout his Reds' career, just seems like he settled to be where he's at now.
seems to me i read quite a bit on what wily mo wouldn't do, like go to winter ball in Arizona where the Reds could keep an eye on him, rather than the Dominican, where he can play with his buds.
I'm also inclined to listen to Marty, bitter old grouch or not, because what he says usually is conventional wisdom around the clubhouse.

Yeah, because the Reds have been writing the book on how to run a baseball franchise the past five years.

Jeez, blaming marty brennaman for the Reds plight! I thought it was Nuxhall's fault.
The problem with Marty, he doesn't care what anybody thinks, and will say whatever's on his mind that second. and he is unfirable. But he doesn't have much to do with W's & L's

No offense to you Reds Fanatic but it is really any different than what goes on Redszone every day with half of the Reds roster. Yes, he did it on a 50,000 watt station and XM but I would bet as many people read this website as listen to a Reds ST game during a rain delay.

I just don't understand why Marty gets ripped for saying something negative about a player but all of us can say whatever we want.

    Flame away.

No one said he did, but if what he's doing is parroting the opinion of the folks who've been running this franchise into the dirt then someone ought to jam a cork in his gob. Wisdom hasn't been the convention for the Reds of late, incompetence has.

None of us are the "voice of the reds"

Also, we willingly slam players who are on the team, we don't wait till they are gone to say so.

    All announcers can be replaced.

I think other than his famous "This one belongs to the Reds" Marty has been a black hole the last couple of years, bad jokes, dumb conversations about aliens and what not. I bought the MLB radio package last year and before April was even over I would listen to the other teams broadcast rather than sit through Marty's bile towards those he doesn't like.

    1-2-3 for the Reds; after 5.5 it's still 6-1.

BONG! BONG! Now pitching for the Reds in the bottom of the sixth. Of course he's run down by Marty as one of the dubious prizes in a terrible trade. I rooted for Chris Reitsma as hard as anyone, but he's a setup man. Get a grip, Marty.

Furmaniak (traded by PIT to SD for Dave Ross last year, BTW). Two quick strikes. Grounder to Menechino for the out.

Edwards. Liner to right is picked off by Buchanan.

    Bong throwin' some strikes today.

High fly to center retires the third guy.

"Who cares about Chris Reitsma?" says Marty with a sarcastic laugh.

    6-1 Reds after 6.

Wait... this is a game thread?
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.
