he might be worth a look but not for a bunch of guaranteed money
Krivsky should say "If you change your mind.....call me Ismael"
More often than not, when someone is telling me a story all I can think about is that I can't wait for them to finish so that I can tell my own story that's not only better, but also more directly involves me.

I want more money, too. The main difference between Ismael Valdez and me is that I know I'm not going to get it.

This was in Hal's notes column today:
Thank goodness for small favors.Reds general manager Wayne Krivsky tried his best to sign free agent pitcher Ismael Valdez. And he had help from former Reds infielder Juan Castro, who has the same agent, Oscar Suarez, as Valdez.
"I told Valdez he could be No. 2, or even No. 1 for the Reds and that it is a good organization with good people, but he wouldn't listen," said Castro, an infielder for the Minnesota Twins. "He wanted more guaranteed money."
Valdez remains unsigned but Krivsky said, "We couldn't wait, we had to move on."
More money? He had a 5.22 ERA and a 1.70 WHIP last year for Florida, which means some innings in Pro Players Stadium. He shouldn't even turn down a minor league contract with his last three years of work. I don't even see why we would offer more than that.

well, don't worry - if he wants to pitch this year and put food on the table - we might see him next week.
Some people play baseball. Baseball plays Jay Bruce.
Well - I see Castro's argument. After all, Castro was a starting 3B here, yet is a bench warmer elsewhereOriginally Posted by Red Leader

I'll bet you could, too.
And 95% of Redszoners. And my little sister.
