not really. Although this roster is such a group of mistmatched parts and really bad bench players it is hard to believe that we won't see a number of changes before the season

Just catching up on the game thread -- is the LaRue a pre-existing injury? Is there a possibility they traded for Ross because they knew there was a possibility that LaRue would be laid up for a while?

    Or did this occur today?

LaRue seemed fine yesterday. I can't imagine they would have played him 2 days in a row with him hurt.

I wouldn't think so because they would have taken care of it already. I'm guessing his symptoms developed yesterday.

Reds catcher LaRue to have knee surgery

    3/26/2006, 2:52 p.m. ET
    The Associated Press
SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) — Cincinnati Reds catcher Jason LaRue will have surgery Monday on torn cartilage in his right knee.

LaRue, who started 104 games last season, is expected to miss a couple of weeks. The knee has bothered him during spring training.

Javier Valentin is expected to do most of the catching while LaRue rehabilitates the knee. The Reds have two other catchers in camp: David Ross and Dane Sardinha. The Reds got Ross in a trade with San Diego on March 21.

If his knee has been hurting all spring, why are they just now checking it out? hopefully Jason wasn't concealing it.

There are more cliches and catch phrases in the game threads than a Happy Days rerun anymore.

    Peña update:

Short flyball caught on a sliding catch by the right fielder. And speaking of former Reds, Chris Booker made an appearance for the Phillies today. No walks, strikeouts or runs. One hit, a double. A player who could have been a Red, Hee Seop Choi, popped out in foul ground on the first pitch he saw as a Red Sox.
"...You just have a wider lens than one game."
--Former Reds GM Wayne Krivsky, on why he didn't fly Josh Hamilton to Colorado for one game.

"...its money well-spent. Don't screw around with your freedom."
--Roy Tucker, on why you need to lawyer up when you find yourself swimming with sharks.
