I guess for allowing Joe to call "half the game" on opening day.... without consulting anyone else.

Darryl Parks, WLW-AM operations director, says “that’s what we’ve been told from Sarasota” by Dave Armbruster, the station staffer who has been producing Brennaman’s spring training game broadcasts.
I thought Darryl was the PD...Did he get a demotion?

Marty is not taking Monday off it is just Joe working half the game with him and Steve working half the game with him.

Doesn't look as if WLW has that specific title anymore - per the website... [maybe Matt can shed some light]

They should have Steve do a simulcast when Joe's on so people who want to know how the game is going can go there.

Well, it can't be a simulcast...Joe's game is always on a one inning delay...No technology needed.

Cool...I knew Darryl at WTVN and thought he was an outstanding PD...never worked for him but watched how he handled the talent.

When is Steve going to get tired of this? His he the Guy or what? I guess Joe could do the 10 games Steve is off but opening day. How would you feel if you were Steve?
Not this year...maybe a Wild Card

Re: Merged: Marty says Nux will work Monday (3/27) / Marty Deserves Credit

This really gets tiring--I've said it before and I'll say it again. Newcomers who never grew up with Marty and Joe have no idea what they mean to this franchise. Listen...Marty and Joe were part of my youth. I love them. I've been a fan of the Reds for more than 40 years. They are icons in Cincinnati and (for God's sake) it's just radio. If by chance you miss a play or Joe gets you too excited on a fly ball, get over it. It's what we do in America with our icons and heroes. We don't put them out to pasture, we respect them.

Of course, we could have one of the cookie-cutter announcers like a lot of teams do. Lots of information (ad nauseum) and little color or fun. A lot of folks would like that. Just the facts, m'am. Baseball is more than that. if it's anything, it's tradition. Just ask Redskin about the pbp that Sonny Jurgenson and Sam Huff give the Redskins broadcast. Not anywhere near accurate at times, but they're Washington's guys. Same for Marty and Joe.

But, of course, some weren't there for 40+ years. You should be so lucky.
