    Potential deal with Braves?

    I just read the following

Mar 23 Mark Bowman, of Braves.MLB.com, reports Atlanta Braves SP Jorge Sosa might be traded if SP Kyle Davies makes the team's rotation. The Braves would like to use their depth ar starting pitching to help strengthen an injury-plagued bullpen.
Would the Reds be interested in someone like Sosa?

How would he project in GABP?

Who would we be willing to give up for him?
"Sometimes, it's not the sexiest moves that put you over the top," Krivsky said. "It's a series of transactions that help you get there."

I would take Sosa in a heartbeat. Jorge that is. Not sure who I would give up for him, but I would like to get him.

But there's always that old caveat - "if the Braves are dealing pitching..." - it seems like nearly every pitcher we've gotten from the Braves the last 10 years have been on the decline.

He's exactly the type of guy they should be targeting.

He can start or come out of the pen, but the Reds would need him most in the rotation.

He's 28, so he could either be primed for a breakout, or last year was just an illusion.

The only thing he really did wrong last year, though was walk too many guys.

I would have been happier with him than Bronson Arroyo in a Wily Mo deal.

I could be wrong, but wasn't Sosa like the luckiest pitcher in the majors last year according to DIPS? That could lead to us majorly overpaying for him if that's the case.

If he's cheap I'd be for it.

Turner's roughly the size of one of the boroughs--Sosa I suspect benefitted nicely from that as well.

Nope. Never mind. Better road numbers.

The Braves signed him to a one-year, 2.2 million dollar deal. I think some of his stats (1.29 K/BB ratio, 0.80 GB/FB ratio) does not justify that kind of money. And if the Reds were to get him, he more than likely would only be a one-year rental IMO.

Ack. He's averaged about 15 HR allowed over his career.

Last year he gave up 12.

He was probably pretty hit lucky, his ERA was about two points lower than his career average.

    Anyone know his BABIP?

At 2.2MM, he'd be worth a rental if the talent price isn't too high.

Just the kind of guy we need for this year's playoff push.

Shipping away BP material for him would be warranted imo. I'd like to keep Belisle and Wags, but other than that, have at it!

I would do a Weathers or Mercker for Sosa deal but I doubt the Braves would.
    I miss Adam Dunn.
