    Harang and Harnisch

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, and if so, sorry. But does anyone else see the similarities between Harang and Harnisch? Harang reminds me of him in so many ways, from his build, to his stuff. When Harnisch was our No. 1 starter in 1999 we won 96 games. Does Harnisch fit the description of a true No. 1? Of course not. And we won 96 games. I'm not by any means saying this team can win 96 games this year, but we could do a lot worse than Harang being our opening day starter. The last 5 years we've had Harnisch, Joey Hamilton, Jimmy Haynes, Corey Lidle, and Paul Wilson (not sure if that's in order or not). I'd take Harang over any of the guys on that list (keep in mind that Harnisch was at the end of his career during his last Opening Day start with us). I just wish people outside of the organization wouldn't give Harang such a hard time. I can see him having a Harnisch-like run, which would be a very good thing for our ballclub

I think that with Harang still being fairly young, he can have a monster career, mostly because a lot of people still don't know much about him. If you think about it, if the pen hadn't screwed up half of the blown leads that Harang had left, he would've won 16 or 17 games. Aaron Harang knows how to get guys out (first pitch strikes) and can be a leader for all of our young pitchers on the rise (Homer Bailey, Travis Wood). Aaron Harang can and will win 15 games this season.

If Harang simply duplicates last season, he could win 18 games with average run support. Our offense scored less runs for Harang than any other starter.

    And we won 96 games.
