Rather than Ryan Houston or John Hattig? Hattig is still sort of interesting, but he's a 26-year-old third baseman and we can't imagine the Jays will have room for him any year soon. Houston has never been much of a prospect. We'd be very surprised if Perkins went unclaimed. It'd be a high price to pay just to get Brian Tallet on the roster for two weeks.

The action on Perkins' heavy 93-96 sinking fastball has been linkened to a bowling ball and its a true out pitch. he throws a hard 86-87 slider and a developing changeup with high marks for mound presence and makeup.

24 years old, 6-5 and 225 pounds, fastball in the the mid 90's with two other solid pitches, keeps the ball in the yard, and misses bats. Sign him now Wayne and stick him in Louisville. Also wouldn't mind them picking up Kaz Tadano for the bullpen.

The scouting report says he needs to work on his changeup. Sign him and put him at Louisville and let Mario Soto work with him on that changeup. Arms like this are not available everyday. Wayne needs to jump all over this one.

I know every team gets a chance to claim a guy, but how does the order work? Record last year?

If he's DFA, he's not on waivers yet. The DFA gets the guy off the roster right away but gives the team a window to work out a trade before he goes on waivers.

On the waivers themselves, right now I think it's based on last year's record, and it goes by league -- all AL clubs will get a crack at him before any NL club does. Which means we'd probably have to work out a trade with the Blue Jays to get him, which means making the best offer... don't know what that would take.

Wayne needs to make some of these moves. This guy Perkins would be a no-risk/high-reward move. Still in awe over the Choi debacle and still hoping for a Carlos Pena signing.

Only 21 years old, Carvajal is 6-4 and only 165 pounds. His body frame suggests he has plenty of room to fill out and maybe gain a few mph on his mid-90's fastball. He compliments his fastball with an improved slider and a changeup. 2003 Baseball America scouting report on Marcos: Carvajal touches 97 mph and sits in the low 90s with good movement. His slider is below-average at this point, though his feel for a changeup is encouraging.

This is another guy I think Krivsky should target. The potential is there for Wayne to improve the pitching of this club by acquiring Vince Perkins and Carvajal, and for a relatively cheap price too. Make us proud Wayne.
