A few thoughts about the experience...
Yes, it was cold. Around 10 a.m. it was awesome. Thought I might actually be too hot @ the game. Yeah, right.
Parked at Newport on the Levee for $2. Can't beat that. Saw the 2 angry guys, Lance, and Chris Sexton doing their shows. Junior's agent, Brian Goldberg showed up, along with a few other notables.
Went to GABP around noon. Stood in line for maybe 10 minutes to get in. It was pretty painless.
Watched the Cubs take BP. Didn't see a Cubs player give a single ball to any fans.
Wandered over to 700 wlw's tent for the on-air festivities. Cunningham and Furman both picked the Reds to win the wildcard this year.
Here's a pic of Cunninham flappin' his gums:
Yes, W was at the game, but yours truly was able to track down the "real" George...Foster that is...
I'm the pigment-challenged guy on the right, just in case there was any doubt.
Got some nachos about 1:45. Paid $5.50 but the cheese sauce outlasted the chips...that's always good. (Got extra jalapenos, btw)
Didn't realize how good our seats were until we got to them. We were just past 3rd base, right on the wall.
Got to see the Prez. That was cool. First time I've seen a Prez in person. Here's a shot of the first pitch:
First inning sucked. Triple. Double. Single...on and on...dropped fly ball...you know.
Reds tried to rally in the bottom of the first...funny...Dunn goes, what, 2 years without hitting a sac fly and then he gets one in his first AB of '06.
EdE killed the rally, IMO.
Anybody know why there was no radar gun? The scoreboard read: SPEED _______ Nothing! The whole game! It's OD for cryin' out loud!
The jumbo tron (or whatever it's called now) was messed up for the entire game. I'm sure Cast was thrilled with that.
Reds rallied to tie the game. Here's a shot of Dunn circling the bases after his HR:
Thought we were going to pull that one out...oh well.
Left a little early...after all, it was 16-7.
Here's a look at GABP at about the 8th inning:
Yeah, it stinks that the Reds lost (lost is an understatement) but it was still a great day. When we do make the wildcard ....I don't think we'll care too much about getting beat 16-7 on the first day of the season.
