    Can we please stop?

Hopefully you guys don't take this the wrong way and I don't get negative rep points, but this needed to be said.

Jerry Narron likes vets, that is ovbious, however the man is not an idiot. He isn't going to bench EE after 2 games, and he isn't going to send him to AAA. EE hit some balls hard today, and had some bad luck. Yesterday he went up against a really good pitcher, and it was his first Opening Day in the Natti. Of course he had some nerves. EE isn't the only player off to a slow start, EE actually has a better battign average then Felipe. Also, I don't why people say Womack, RA, and Freel have gotten off to such a hot start. 1 game (all of them have only played 1 game) does not count as a hot start.

Edwin will be fine, and Jerry is going to play him. He would have to struggle for a good 2-3 weeks (and when I mean struggle, I mean around .200 BA) before Narron would think about doing anything. This is EE's first full year in the majors, and of course he is going to struggle at times.

    Now can we please stop?

For the most part I agree. No way EE is getting sent down any time soon. But if this absolute nonsense about Freel continues, I'll be a lot less confident in Narron. The kid can flat-out play and gives the Reds a dimension that no other player really offers. I'm not trying to heap praise upon him for what he did in one game today, but by the same token today's performance shouldn't go unnoticed. Rich Aurilia at least has a solid professinalism to his credit, but sitting Freel in favor Womack is ludicrous.

    I say relax.

People are gonna say what they're gonna say.

It's early, and everything is magnified.

I agree with your Womack/Freel thing, and we all do, but this isn't about Womack and Freel. It is people freaking out when a guy had 1 bad game, and saying he is going to get sent down. He had a double and a run today, not bad.

You're right, but it was getting really annoying and I had to say my peace.

    Re: Can we please stop?

Agreed. We'll have plenty of time to rip Narron after he makes the bad decision.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

I would not take the stuff said about EE by people around here too seriously. I do not believe there are very many people here that think EE should be sent down. I do not believe there are people that actually think he will be sent down after one bad game. Hell, Brandon Larson was given at least 2 weeks to stink up the joint before the Reds pulled the plug on him. I think this talk is just folks whistling through the graveyard. No, they do not think EE is going to be sent down but in the back of their minds they fear that if EE does not hit well, he will be benched and eventually sent down so Narron can have Aurilia, Womack and Freel in the lineup all at the same time instead of giving EE a chance to grow accustomed to big league pitching.

    Re: Can we please stop?

Honestly I have been pleasntly suprised with Narron so far. (not just these two games, last year too.) However I do think he will end up with the same fate as Boone and Miley, by that I mean I think he will be gone sooner then later. I think the biggest thing that pisses people off around here about Narron, myself included, is the way he talks. He insist on saying things about being "scrappy", "veteran prescence", "doing the little things" and it is stuff we have all heard before from Boone and Miley and their teams sucked. But like I said before I think Narron will be gone soon and unless his pen gets help or plays over their heads it may not be his fault but thats baseball and the new ownership is going to need someone to take the heat when their first season ends 20 games out of first.

Amen thank you Reds44 I always say this team has the potential even though we have a ok bullpen we can go along way all it takes is people believing in them if we all say they suck there sprits go down and goodbye ball hope you like taking a bath in the river. Ross felt like crap after dropping that ball ya im not gonna lie i was mad but you think when he got booed coming up with bases loaded it helped his confindence? All he wanted was to get the fans back on his side All it takes is to believe i think i can promise ya if our bats do what they have been doing were going along way!

    Re: Can we please stop?

What I wish is that Red's fan's cheer the wins and look for the positives in this years loses. This is finally! a new begining for the Red's and there is optimism. The starting staff is the best it has been in atleast 4 years.

The low minors have some players we can hope progress without5 injurys and Krivsky appears not to be a raving dolt, Uncle Carl is gone and from all signs it appears Castellini does not want to have his baseball name legacy wise destroyed.

Dunn is optimistic and although I as a fan do not like the lineup as a whole i feel optimistic. Last year at this timke Weathers was so slammed fan's wanted him run out of town. A season is a season is a season. What consists of the 2006 Red's lineup presently will be far different come the spring of 2007.

I love, Live and rejoice being a Red's fan. I also want to say Redzone has me here for life.

    Re: Can we please stop?

    Dear Jerry Narron,

Pen this lineup in at home -

    Freel 2b
    Lopez ss
    Griffey cf
    Dunn LF
    Kearns RF
    EdE 3B
    Aurilia 1b
    Catcher of the Day
    Pitcher of the Day

(Remember - RA hits well at defensively challenged GABP)

Pen this lineup on the road -

    Freel 2b
    Lopez ss
    Griffey CF
    Dunn 1b
    Kearns RF
    EdE 3B
    Denorfia LF
    Catcher of the Day
    Pitcher of the Day

Heck, I'd take that lineup 5 times a week.

reds44 - I appreciate your "extra effort" in trying to show that EdE belongs. I've been a proponent of that same thought since Joe Randa got traded. 90% of this board recognizes the fact the EdE is the best third baseman on this team. 90% of Reds fans understand that EdE is the best third baseman on this team. Jerry Narron doesn't. He has to 'tinker'. He's like your local auto repair man who can't just stop at changing your oil. Even though it works fine, its still needs "repaired".

IMO - you got to have a lineup that 80% of the time stays the same. I understand the idea of get-away days and Sunday Specials. But it should be the same 7 or so players 5 games a week.

    Re: Can we please stop?

I understand the concerns that are expressed amongst all of you, as I have the same ones, but with that in mind, is it possible that the Reds are only tring to showcase their "talent"? With 3 2b on the roster all of whom can contribute greatly to a playoof team, and many in the wings, giving each of these players PT after a good spring(womack), and obviously has something left(aurillia) before there value drops even more? I hope I am not just falling into my early season optimism, but
