    Re: Bengals Schedule for 2006

From November 12th on are the games that could have their times changed on Sundays. On those weeks the NFL is going to schedule the prime time game and the 4:15 national game about 12 days in advance. Looking at that schedule the most likely days we may have shifted are the last game against the Steelers and maybe the Chargers game in November.

Hopefully Time Warner adds the NFL Network so we can see those Thursday and Saturday games.

If you're in the local team's market and NFL Network isn't available the game will be broadcast on one of the over the air channels.

    Re: Bengals Schedule for 2006

Now this is where it gets disturbing. Here are teams listed with their records and number of holiday/prime time appearances this year. Notice two 4-12 teams get 3 or more games while one 11-5 team gets only one.

    Cincinnati(11-5)-2

    Miami(9-7)-2
    Pittsburgh(11-5)-4
    Indianapolis(14-2)-3
    NY Giants(11-5)-4
    Minnesota(9-7)-3
    Washington(10-6)-3
    San Diego(9-7)-2
    Oakland(4-12)-4
    Dallas(9-7)-4
    Jacksonville(12-4)-2
    Denver(13-3)-4
    New England(10-6)-3
    Atlanta(8-8)-2
    New Orleans(3-13)-1
    Seattle(13-3)-4
    Chicago(11-5)-3
    Green Bay(4-12)-3
    Philadelphia(6-10)-2
    Baltimore(6-10)-2
    Arizona(5-11)-1
    Carolina(11-5)-3
    Tampa Bay(11-5)-1
    St. Louis(6-10)-1
    San Francisco(4-12)-1
    Kansas City(10-6)-2
    NY Jets(4-12)-1
    Detroit(5-11)-1
    Cleveland(6-10)-1

Teams with no prime time or holiday-

    Houston(2-14)
    Tennessee(4-12)
    Buffalo(5-11)

So basically, the Bengals finished 11-5 last year. New England and Washington finished 10-6, yet have three PT/H appearances. Dallas and Minnesota were 9-7 but get 4 and 3. The Falcons were 8-8, but have the same amount of games as the Bengals. As I mentioned earlier, Oakland has 4 PT/H and Green Bay has 3, both finished 4-12 last season.

On the other hand, Jacksonville finished 12-4, yet gets the same amount of playoff games we did. Tampa Bay finished 11-5, yet only manages to get one game. The NFL is really playing to their fan base.

Randy Moss sells tickets, jerseys, and draws an audience.

This really has nothing if little to do with Moss. If anything, Chad Johnson has probably eclipsed Moss in terms of popularity after last season.

Its the NFL playing to their demographic. Its like in baseball when people pull for the Braves, Cubs, Giants, Dodgers, Red Sox, or Yankees. The NFL has that in the Raiders, Cowboys, Packers, and Patriots.

    Re: Bengals Schedule for 2006

I like how ESPN and ABC have said that they don't like to give the Bengals prime time games because they haven't fared well, but they always schedule them on the road, like in Jacksonville.

Geesh, not many teams win there.

The Bengals aren't going to do anything this year because of this schedule. Didn't they have one of the toughest ones a few years ago as well?

As a Bucs fan, I'm considerably disappointed in the NFL's scheduling. The Bucs are getting one Monday-night matchup against the Carolina Panthers and then get one other "nationwide" appearence against the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day (one of the most unfair scheduling quirks of the NFL -- forcing some team to travel on short rest to Dallas or Detroit). Otherwise 13 of their remaining 14 games are 1:00 PM "local" starts.

No national love for the Bucs.

Oh well...Bucs v. Bengals falls on my birthday, October 15th. I'm planning on being in Tampa with a couple of my friends (all Bengals fans) for the game. Bucs victory would make a great birthday present.

Of course they are, its one of the reasons they are quite succesful.

Randy Moss sells tickets, jerseys, and draws an audience.
Not to mention the Raiders themselves have a much larger national following than the Bengals and most teams.
