MLB Extra Innings Update Memphis Tn Area

I posted several days ago about DTV sending me a post card stating the Reds were no longer a home team in the Memphis Area. Even though MLB Extra Innings on Cable TV and MLB.TV on the Internet still considers the Reds a Home team here. The game today is being shown only on the Pirates Network and sure enough on DTV it is being shown clear as a Bright sunny day. Yet on Time Warner Cable it is blacked out. So anyone here that lives in this area you can now order Extra Innings on DTV and see all the games that the Reds play on TV on all affiliates. Kinda weird to me that it can be diff for DTV as opposed to Cable and Internet but that is what makes these blackout rules so strange I guess. Also when I looked at the upcoming schedule on DTV vs IN-Demand (Cable) the games we play against Washington are on DTV but not on Cable. Confused Yet. Looks like the best TV option is DTV over cable. If MLB.TV would get the buffing thing straight they would be a nice option as well if you are not a Reds Home team, but everytime I try a watch a game on-line you can hardley even tell when somone hits the ball and where it is going. Has anyone here ever had much luck watching a game on-line and if so what spec computer and video card do you use. I just wanted to share this info incase anyone here is from this area and wants to see as many Reds games as Possible

I have the subscription. The only problem that I have is they no longer offer in realplayer format which I liked better. Also, I could watch the games full screen on my 23 inch monitor... I can no longer do that since they switched to WMV exclusively. I wish they would use Quicktime instead.

I have a Mac G4 1Ghz OSX 1.3.9, GeForce 3. Have noticed the video craps out occasionally and goes blacks and says "buffering".

I live about an hour south of you in Tupelo, and it was blacked out on MLB. I just order Fox Sports net and listen to the games that aren't aired there. I save a ton of money by getting FSN (12 bucks) as apposed to MLB (44 bucks a month), and still see most Reds games. I personally hope it stays a home team in my area

It comes to about 100 bucks more a year but I will see many more games this way. I cannot just see the games on the 12.00 per month way, since the Reds are not a home team anymore. Tupelo is so close it is strange they did not change it there as well. I just wish they had won today LOL. If I have known this earlier I would have ordered early and saved another 20 bucks, so next year it will be just 80.00 more.

    redram...shhhhhhh.

Saw the same thing you did, and was overjoyed. I think, though, that they will catch their glitch and we will go back to being hosed. For one day, though, it was wonderful to get one of the heretofore inexplicably off-limits feeds from the other team...

LOL No I spoke with DTV before I ordered it. He assured me The Reds are not blacked out here. Also the game earlier in the week on the Cubs sports channel was on in the clear as well. BUT, If they do pull a switch DTV had better issue me a refund on this MLB Extra Innings. The only reason I got it was for the Reds. Will know for sure Tuesday when we again play the Cubs on their network. I expect it to come in clear, at least I am hoping LOL

I wish, MLB.TV still has Memphis as a Home team for the Reds. The rep on the phone at MLB.TV said that DTV has probl worked out something that has freed up some of the blackouts like this one. Cinn is almost 500 miles from Memphis and The Reds are our Home team ??? Really stupid of MLB if you ask me and lots of other folks out their. Maybe one day they will wake up and see they can make even more money if they lift some of these stupid blackouts.

MLB.TV blackouts are based on zip code associated with credit card. Last year I was in NYC in march and april and flew back opening. When I renewed my subscription to MLB.TV, I had changed my credit card info while I was in NYC to a local address. When I came back to cincy, that credit card info must have been still on file, so I was able watch all the home games and road games last year with no blackouts. What would be interesting is I had a family member or friend in another state and city and have them sign up for an account and reemburse them.

Last year I just changed my account info to a different zip code, and got the Reds games...lol. I mean bro, I'm a computer geek and that's my profession and I can tell you that unless you give them your zip there is very little shot at them knowing where you live. IP's aren't given out per zip code, and that's all your computer is identified with. Just change your personal info, and you should be good to go.

I can't guarantee it, because they could get your zip through your card, but I have a hard time believing that the MLB will go through all of that trouble to keep people from watching the games.........I do know that last year it worked, and like I said there is noway they can get your zip from your IP address. Try it and tell me if it works out for you
