    Don Gullet

Does anyone know what is up with Don Gullet? I always thought he was very highly thought of as a pitching coach. If this is so, it would seem he would have landed somewhere. Weren't the Yankees always after him?

Yep, Chip. This was asked during the wonderful banana-phone-time last Friday. Marty said that Don is on the farm in KY.

I know Don very well and he is at home in Ky. He is doing alot of hunting and fishing. He has had a couple of offers to return to coaching but declined. He said that he would only return in the right situation. I know that he has many friends in baseball and that he stays in contact with them. I also know that he still follows the Reds closely and is very much enjoying himself.

I saw Don and Don Jr. recently. Don is "pretty damn happy" being on the farm. He looks good and seemed pretty much at peace.
It's absolutely pathetic that people can't have an opinion from actually watching games and supplementing that with stats. If you voice an opinion that doesn't fit into a black/white box you will get completely misrepresented and basically called a tobacco chewing traditionalist...

I wouldn't be surprised if every so often his head involuntarily jerks to the right as if he's watching another ball fly out of the park.
