    chris hammond y bronson arroyo

its been awhile since hhammonds has been with the reds so does anyone know if he is just a slow starter or if hes ten thousand years older than sand now

another strong performance on the mound and at the plate for arroyo. i think i may be developing another chris stynes like man-crush on him. if he dominates the evil cardinals this weekend, that might just make it official. or if he brushes edmonds off the plate with his first pitch against him

I'm neutral about whether Hammonds remains on the roster or gets bumped.

But the pitch on which he gave up the RBI today (Tuesday) looked like a pitcher's pitch -- slider down and in -- it took a pretty good hitter, IMHO, like Derrek Lee to get the bat head on it.

    Other observations:

1.The ump (again Tuesday) got a lot of Reds' RH hitters in the hole with his wide, off the outside corner, strike zone.

2.If somehow range could be discounted, Aurilia certainly has the hands to play any IF position, and for someone who virtually played his entire career at SS (up until '05), he has adapted well to all of the other spots. If he continues to bat in the middle of the lineup and accumulates some decent stats, he may fetch a quality arm at the deadline.

He's got nothing left, it wasn't smart of the Reds to bring him in.

Hammond is terrible. He wasn't much before, but he's gotten worse. In the past 4 years he has 2 saves in 12 save opportunities. Hopefully, he'll retire and open a roster spot for someone ... anyone.

Arroyo has been a wonderful surprise for me. Nice move Kriv! Kudos! I just was not sure what to expect from him. Claussen, Milton(ver 2006), and Harang make a pretty decent starting staff with him. If we could trade a catcher and a couple middle infielders for 2 or 3 serviceable relievers we might have something.

Hammond wasn't a bad gamble, but lets face it he may be toast. Shackelford can at least do better. Same with Rick White, veteran presence only goes so far. IMO, Chris Hammond > Rick White
