    Grandslams

After Edwin's grandslam, I got to thinking, what are some of the most memorable grandslams that you can remember? The one that sticks in my mind was Barry Larkins 1st career grandslam. I'm only 20 years old, so I can't remember that far back. I also remember Robin Jennings (if that was the name of the guy I'm thinking of) first home run was a grandslam wasn't it? (what ever happened to him? He had such a sweet swing.) My memory is understandably shaky right now as it is crammed with info from the pharmacy program at UC (rough stuff). What are some of your favorites?

    Re: Grandslams

    Barry's first was definitely mine.

I love them all when the Reds are hitting them, but I was soooooo happy for Barry... as was he. I saved the picture from the online Enquirer, and the excitement on his face is priceless.

It was a long time coming, and I was fortunate enough to see it in person.

The thing that Edwin's reminded me of was Felipe's last year. It was an April game at Wrigley, and hopefully this springboards EE like it did Felipe.

    Re: Grandslams

How about Eric Davis' 2 grandslam in 1 series at the Phillies I believe (or was it 3 in a week or something like that) Man I loved to watch him play.

I'll always remember Glen Braggs 1st inning grandslam against the Braves as the 4th batter of the game, as I had just got to my seats that day when he knocked it out.

Of course Barry's was something special, but you had to be a red fan to appreciate it, which means most of this board appreciates it.

Only Grand Slam i've seen in person was the one Joe Randa hit the 2nd game of the year last year.

    Now that was crazy fun.....

Awesome, Awesome moment. I was also there and saw it in person. Larkin was always my favorite player and I always seemed to see a lot of his career milestones - 1st GS, 2,000th hit, etc.

Another memorable one was the game where the Reds hit 2 GS's in the same game back about 4-5 years ago. I was at that one as well. I think Pete Harnisch started and hit a homer in the game as well. Eddie Taubensee and Aaron Boone are who I'm thinking hit the GS's but I'm not positive. I want to say the game was around August but it's slipping my mind right now.

I seem to remember being at a game when Eddie Taubensee hit a Slam into the yellow seats. Did this really happen, or am I mistaken?

    Re: Grandslams

I did a little digging on the 2 grand slam game. Here's a link to the Enquirer story on it:

    http://reds.enquirer.com/1999/08/22/...9_expos_2.html

The two players were Eddie Taubensee and Aaron Boone. The starting pitcher was Juan Guzman (I think I mixed up this game with another where I sat in similar seats and saw Harnisch hit a homer). The date of the game was August 21, 1999.

Funny to read that article and see Vlad Guerrero and Michael Barrett still with the Expos among others. Also fun to read about all the players from that 1999 team, probably my favorite year following the Reds.

    Re: Grandslams

I think my favorite was the Mark Lewis grand salomi against the dodgers in the last playoff victory in Cincy. That was in 95 I believe, and after taking two in LA, we came back to Cincy and demolished the hated Blue. The stadium was alive with energy that night, Hideo Nomo was starting for the dodgers, and the Reds just mashed the ball all night. I can still remember leaving the stadium yelling "we want the braves"... hindsight being 20/20, no we didnt. Oh well, still a special night for me in the stadium, and that was just the nail in the coffin that sent us into celebration mode.

Here's something for STATS Inc. to look up. Do the REDS have the record for the most 3B to hit grandslams?
