    Krivsky quote...make any sense?

Does this Krivsky quote make any sense to you?

With the jam-up in the infield that includes four second basemen and a roster that soon will include three catchers, it figures general manager Wayne Krivsky is hot on the trail of trade.

"Not really, nothing much going on," he said. "We're trying to do something with Matt Kata since we've designated him for assignment. We'd like to do something good for him in a trade that is almost something good for us."

    Re: Krivsky quote...make any sense?

I read this the other day and found it worded poorly myself.

My only guess is that they are hoping he'll clear waivers and the Reds will get to hold on to him and thus it will be good for both sides. Good for him because he won't be bounced to a new organization, and good for the Reds because they won't lose a player.

Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:
    Cincinnati Reds - 75, 76, 90
    Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13
    University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12
    Cincinnati Bengals - None
    Chicago Bulls - 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98

I read it as we would like to keep him, but dont think he is going to clear waivers, so we will try and trade him where he can play and that will bring us something back.

Yea, they are going to deal him to a place that can use him hopefully and maybe get something of value back. Good luck on that.

Maybe Hal needs to hit rewind on his tape recorder and see if "almost" is actually the word "also"

"We know we got him for basically nothing, so we don't expect much in return for him. But ideally we'd like to be able to send him somewhere that he's got a chance to play"
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Kata cleared waivers by the way. From Marc's blog:

Matt Kata cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Louisville.

Not sure what they'll do with him there, as they seem to have enough infielders as it is between Bannon, Bergolla, Olmedo and Snyder, etc., but I guess we'll see.

I am glad to see Kata cleared waivers. He can still be a trading chip for later. Teams may have been concerned about putting Kata on the 40 man roster if claimed.

His quote still made more sense than anything DanO ever said.
What if this wasn't a rhetorical question?

All models are wrong. Some of them are useful.
