This is kind of hard, since most country groups are two's. Rascal Flatts is an exception, but I cannot stand them outside of their two new ones.

A guy here locally wrote the lyrics to the song "Mayberry" and a new song by Trent Tomlinson, "Angels Like Her".

I did like the Dixie Chicks though before they kinda went south.

    South?

I'd say they went "north" from their costumed retro nightmare before they became famous. Plus Natialie's dad made their sound much richer and broad.

But of course you're probably refering to politics... which I never let get in the way of art.

+10. I mentioned them in the female thread before realizing there was a group thread. Their last albums have been incredible, especially "Home". They're my favorite country group portrayed as a group, though you could stretch in some cases such as Merle Haggard AND The Strangers, Buck Owens AND The Buckaroos, etc. Throwing those aside, Dixie Chicks rank at the top.

Politics aside... The Chicks are definitely very talented musicians (and not just vocals). The first I saw them live in concert on TV... I was blown away by their musical talent. I am not a country listening type, but I know musical talent when I hear it.

No doubt. They seem to be making a bit of a return, as some more radio stations are playing their newest single that just came out though there are still a few holdouts. There are lots of open opinions in country music; I recall hearing of a fight between Steve Earle and Ronnie Dunn of Brooks & Dunn that was politically fueled. People will have opinions, just play the music if its worth playing.

Ugh! I always hated the Dixie Chics sound. I can't stand the sound of Natalie's singing voice.

I'll agree on the whole retro nightmare, and yes and no on politics. After they made their comments and stations refused to air them, it seems like they kinda died out after that. The comments did hurt them, but I think the lack of media exposure that came from it didnt help either.
