    Disturbing Commercials

Have any of you seen the new VW commercials, where the vehicle is involved in a crash.

Those scenes just bother me. Not sure what it is about them, unless it's the fact the view is from inside the car being hit!

    Anyone else feel that way?

Not so much on that one, but the Burger King "king" stalking people is kinda weird, but at least they stopped with the death metal band in chicken suits singing about their chicken fries.

I find the Burger King ads more disturbing than the VW ads. The King is just plain creepy!

The VW ad, while shocking, does show get it's point across quite effectively.

You mean to tell me that everyone does not flip through the channels when a commercial comes on the idiot-box?

Am I the only one who flips during commercials?

I have to agree with the Burger King commercials. They scare me!!! If I ever opened my door or shade in the morning and he was standing there...I would loose it!

The old Quizno's commercials with the singing hamsters or what ever they were use to freak me out a bit also. Some strange marketing with that one!

I love the King ads. They're just so wonderfully surreal and absurd. If I'm flipping by and I see the King on TV, I'll stop just to make sure it's not a new ad I haven't seen before.

Plus, how could you not love the King spliced into NFL films highlight reels tipping a Drew Bledsoe pass to himself and then doing the Deion Sanders dance in the end zone?

I love the King ads, too, for the exact same reasons Caveat Emperor mentioned.

I used to have TiVo and missed all the ads. Now I have HDTV but no HDTV TiVo, so I'm back to watching the ads.

The first time I saw the VW car crash ad, it caught me completely by surprise and I about jumped out of my skin.

The newest J.T.M. commercial. That is painful to watch.
All models are wrong. Some of them are useful.

    Re: Disturbing Commercials

"The King" commericials and the new VW ad are both very effective. I'd much rather see those than the run of the mill commercial when 20 seconds later I don't remember the product.

The VW ad scared teh crap out of me the first time I saw it. But it was VERY good at making it's point, perhaps better than any commerical I can think of.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

    Re: Disturbing Commercials

Back when I had MLB Extra Innings, I got to see all the local ads for Fox Sports Cincinnati. I found the AE Door and Window ads with Marty Brenneman very disturbing. Marty could show The King a thing or two about stalking.

    Re: Disturbing Commercials

TBS just aired The Lord of the Ring I and II this weekend. They had commercials airing implicating Frodo and Sam as "secret lovers", and another commercial showing Gandolf riding the white horse in a suggestive manner. I was mildly disturbed when I watched them.
