RedsZone Hall of Fame - 2006 Inductees

Here is the final tally for the 2006 RedsZone Hall of Fame inductees, and a total of 111 players were inducted in the inaugural polls. The breakdown: 74 position players, 32 starting pitchers and five relief pitchers. Individual position break downs will be listed below with the corresponding position.

If people are interested, I can continue the polls next season so we can add on to the 111 players we've already elected. Included in those polls will be the Negro League stars, and they will be listed by position alongside the Major League stars. First-time players appearing on the BBWAA 2007 ballot will also be eligible next season, which includes players such as RF Tony Gwynn, SS Cal Ripken, Jr. and 1B Mark McGwire. Players who received little to no support in the polls this year will be dropped from the ballot next year in order to reduce the overall number of candidates in each poll.

Thanks to all who participated in the voting!

Was Pete Rose ineligible? Just curious.

Re: RedsZone Hall of Fame - 2006 Inductees

I created a separate poll for Rose, Joe Jackson and Eddie Cicotte a few weeks ago, but none made the cut.

    http://www.redszone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43934

I think what I'll do next year is just place Rose, Jackson and Cicotte among other MLB players at their respective position, and I'll simply place a notation somewhere in the thread that they are currently on MLB's ineligible list.

Any suggestions of change for next year are definitely more than welcome, including any nominations of players people would like to see in the polls.

Cyc, I had a lot of fun with this and I thank you for all the work you put into it.

It would be interesting to see a list of guys in the RZ HOF who aren't in the Cooperstown version. I don't have time to do it right now, but if someone wants to work it up, it would be very cool.

    Great job Cyclone.
Looking at the list we elected, I believe RedsZoners did a much better job of voting than the actual HOF did. About the only guy who was selected that I didn't vote for may have been Lee Smith, and I concede that he is at least a borderline HOF candidate. The "real" HOF has a lot of guys whom I believe never should have been inducted. "Our" HOF doesn't have Joe Tinker or Pop Haines or Fred Lindstrom or some of the other really doubtful candidates; if anything, we left out some deserving candidates IMO.
