    Reds Vs Roy Oswalt Round:2006

"Oswalt is 15-0 with a 2.41 ERA lifetime against the Reds. Last year, he was 4-0 with a 2.03 ERA. His career mark against the Reds is a Major League record for the most wins vs. one opponent without a loss."

Aight. What do we need to do, in order to beat this punk? I think our pataince at the plate and all these walks we are getting so far this season will HELP us this time round against him. However he dont issue very man walks, so we'll have to Create them.

Now Dunn seems to have had success against him. Other than that we struggled a bit. Do you all think Newcomers like Hatteburgh and Phillips should be in the lineup so he see's new people that day? Maybe a few that can spark something I feel.

I tell you this though. When we face him on the 28th of this month AT Home, with Claussen on the mound I get a little worried . I can only hope that the Claussen we seen EARLY in the season shows up and not the Claussen who made his last few starts.

Im intrested to see some ideas and discussion about what we gotta do to get a Win against this dude. I REALLY wanna see us beat him!!!!!!

Hope that he can't spot his breaking ball low and away. I'm sure that's what Kearns is hoping for!

I think this is the year we get him. This team seems to be more patient at the plate. This helps to get he starter out earlier. At least if we can't hit him we can hopefully get him out by the 6th. Our line up now is going to put some numbers up. We just need to hold them down.

Well, he's overdue for an "L". We'll see. Much will depend on Claussen being a whole lot more nails from the mound himself than he was in Milwaukee...

Some guys just have your number, Tom Glavine used to kill us when he pitched for the Braves. I say load the lineup with righties and try and jump on him early. He did give up some runs to MIL and Wash so he is hittable.

It's gonna be a hard game to win with Claussen on the mound unless he shows up.

Id much rather have held Arroyo Back to match up with Oswalt.

Reds try to solve Oswalt in opener
    Houston (15-6) at Cincinnati (15-7), 7:10 p.m. ET
    By Mark Sheldon / MLB.com

Coming off a successful 6-1 road trip, the Reds will face a rather significant challenge when they play an equally hot Astros team and longtime pitching nemesis Roy Oswalt.

Oswalt is 15-0 with a 2.41 ERA in 19 career games vs. Cincinnati, which is the record for most career victories against a single team without a loss. Facing the Reds for the first time this season, the right-hander comes in undefeated through his first five starts.

The Reds are about to hit a tough patch of schedule with six games upcoming vs. NL Central foes. The Cardinals follow the Astros into Great American Ball Park on Monday for three games.

"Early, middle, late it doesn't matter," Reds manager Jerry Narron said. "Any time you play in your division, there are going to be pretty good games. They're games you have to play well to win."

Brandon Claussen will start for Cincinnati against Houston in the opener.

Claussen will be looking to shake off a tough outing at Miller Park, where he allowed four of the Brewers' record-tying five fourth-inning home runs in an 11-0 loss Saturday. The left-hander put just three innings in the book with nine earned runs allowed on eight hits with three walks and three strikeouts.

    Pitching matchup
CIN: LHP Brandon Claussen (1-2, 6.75 ERA)
Despite having never beaten Houston, Claussen has a respectable 2.65 ERA while going 0-3 in three games.

HOU: RHP Roy Oswalt (4-0, 2.48 ERA)
He allowed one run and six hits over seven innings in Sunday's 7-2 win over the Pirates.

Player to watch: Ryan Freel has had some success vs. Oswalt, going 5-for-14 (.357) lifetime with one homer.

They just need to work deep into the count and make Oswalt throw A LOT of pitches early and take him out of the game. That's easier said than done, though.

How can "TBD" be 1-2 and have a 9.53 era?

Because Dave Williams is trying to legally change his name before Monday...sadly, he has selected Eric Lima as his new name...

Well, pencil in Hatteberg at first. The Reds need all of the high OBP guys they can get.
We'll burn that bridge when we get to it.

I assume you mean LH hitters, not righties.
