    Phil Dumatrait

If you take away his start he made after missing time due to the birth of his first child (3ip, 4 r, 4 h, 3bb and 3k) his numbers are dominating.

    18ip
    1 run
    10 hits
    4 walks
    19 strikeouts
    0.50 ERA
    0.78 WHIP
    9.5k/9ip

I wouldnt be suprised to see him in Louisville real soon.

IIRC, he was pretty impressive throughout ST too, wasn't he?

Those are great numbers and all, but it's still only 18ip. Hopefully he can keep it up.

Phil is a good guy. Todd and him are pretty good friends too. Glad to see him doing well.
There are 10 types of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.

They wheeled a 3x4 steel safe into the clubhouse Sunday morning to store the players' valuables. It took four guys to lift it off a dolly and onto a table.

Said pitcher Kent Mercker: "What's that, Junior Griffey's wallet?"

He's doing a great job in Chat., my only fear is whether or not he can maintain a low walk rate. I like that his stuff seems to be overpowering hitters (9.4k/9ip), and I think he's really close to a promotion - but I want to see him show good control against advanced hitters before I get too excited. However, at worst I project him as a solid lefty out of the bullpen (hopefully as soon as next year) so the Reds don't reach on another cheap left-handed arm like Chris Hammond.

I think he should have started in Louisville in the first place.

I agree. He did great in Chatanooga last year after injury (although did walk too many, but results overall were great). Just don't understand why he isn't on a faster track to the major leagues.

Certainly don't understand why he isn't in AAA.

I hope Dumatrait is in Louisville real soon. If he does well there, September call up to the major leagues, hopefully.

we have pulled pitchers up from AA before. if he keeps pitching well he could get a call up if needed.
there's nothing like bowling a 300 game! 13 now and retired.

Ricky henderson has a higher OBP than C. patterson and he's retired. C. Trent 6-14-2008

The question is how do you compare him to Gosling? They seem to be slotted the same current starter/possible bullpen arm both coming from the left.

I would take Dumatrait over Gosling. I think top to bottom he just has better stuff than Gosling.

I'm pretty sure the scouting report on Dumatrait has been that his fastball sits 90 - 92 and he has a hammer curve that serves as his out pitch. I don't know much about his change up, and it could be possible that he has not developed an effective one to date. If anyone has seen him throw this year, I would love to hear your thoughts.
