Remember when everyone thought that Wonder Boy in Boston committed highway robbery? Sock it to em Kriv! In related news, I <3 Bronson Arroyo! If I ever make any money, I'm buying me a #61 jersey.

In related news, the Los Angeles Clippers are on their way to winning an NBA series. Plus, the Reds are in first place. And, Hell's reporting frost.

It's those 30 pitch innings that wear on a pitcher, or a 130-140 pitch night.
    That's a really good point.

Arroyo is averaging less than 15 Pitches per Inning. You can put a solid Inning workload on a guy like that because it's less intensive.

And a couple of those innings, he had adequate rest time, but not too much. Look at the last 3 innings. (After he was on base in the 6th).

    Top 7th: St. Louis
    - J. Encarnacion flied out to left
    - Y. Molina grounded out to third
    - A. Miles flied out to left center

    St. Louis 1, Cincinnati 6

    Top 8th: St. Louis
    - H. Luna grounded out to pitcher
    - D. Eckstein flied out to left
    - J. Rodriguez walked
    - A. Pujols flied out to right

    0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors
    St. Louis 1, Cincinnati 6

    Top 9th: St. Louis
    - J. Edmonds grounded out to first
    - J. Gall struck out swinging
    - J. Encarnacion flied out to left

    0 runs, 0 hits, 0 errors

One baserunner in three innings. Cruise control.

You also have to wonder what a pitcher is like after a 5 run or more inning by their team. I understand the name of the game is to score more runs than your opponent, but for a pitcher's sake - while a 9 run inning gives you a cushion, a 4 run inning, followed, up with a three run inning, and a 2 run inning, might be more beneficial to a pitcher who might be on "a roll" or in a "routine".
