Is there ever a bad day for baseball?

On a whim and a priceline bid, my son and I took off for Toronto yesterday and hit the Jays-Angels game today. Not a spectacular game - though Escobar pitched well, nice shot by Salmon - but what a great day.

Toronto does a great job involving kids in the game - Saturday is kids day...one kid got to be the stadium announcer for an inning, all 14 and under were invited to run the bases after the game, each jay had a kid with him at his position dueing the anthems, also sung by kids. Not to mention they discount a kid's ticket 20%. Nice crowd, about 30K and they were into the game.

Yes, it was cold and the roof was closed, but I just couldnt pick a better way to spend an afternoon with the boy. Looking forward to Detroit in two weeks.

Sounds like a great time, anytime at the park is a great time and I suspect even a little more with your kids.

That sort of happens at GABP on Sundays. Tho' every game there is a kid announcer for the first Reds batter in the bottom of the 3rd inning. And on Saturdays and Sundays kids (usually students chosen from a elementary school) get to stand with the players for the anthem.

Wish I could run the bases! But at 23 I doubt i'd be considered a kid

I've been to Comerica - nice ball park - all the way around - just don't venture north of 75 at night or even in the day.

Great stuff for kids. I'm heading up Friday for Reds/Tigers.

We are hotting the Saturday game. Staying in Windsor and I read there is a shuttle from WIndsor to the games and back which we will check out.

Comerica is a great park. If you get a chance check out Greek town. Great cuisine and shopping. Of course there is also the casino.

I was at a Toronto game last year. Sat in the lower section behind third base. I was surprised at how narrow the seats were (and I'm a skinny guy). And wow was it quiet in there at times. Quietest I've ever heard a ballpark. After the game, while kids ran the bases (it was a Saturday), bad weather rolled in so I got to watch them close the roof. Now THAT was cool.

They're very polite north of the border. Even in the highest reaches of the upper deck, the ushers wouldn't let people go to their seats while a batter was up. Too distracting to the other patrons.
