If the Reds were completely out of it at this time, I'd bring in Joe Mays. Just for sheer comedic value, I'd love to see what his numbers would look like in GABP. He would have a chance to make Eric Milton '05 look like a bonafide ace.
How do we know he's not Mel Torme?

At one point in this past offseason, we were rumored to be interested in Mays. Not sure if it was Krivsky or OB, though. Not that we should pick him up, but who knows, maybe he's better than Williams.
This will not change until the Reds win the World Series.......

Is anyone allowed to pick up KC cuts? I thought that automatically meant you're done, sort of like if you can't make it on our staff

I know he wasn't a pitcher, but wouldn't Donnie Sadler be the president of that club? A guy that was shunned by the Reds and Royals has to have a special place somewhere, right? The Island of Misfit Players?

If anyone shows up in Cincinnati, it would be Joe Mays - but he got outrighted to Omaha....

Aaron Sele's back in baseball, I see. Tossed a W for the Dodgers.
Some people play baseball. Baseball plays Jay Bruce.

I have no interest in Mays. None at all.

Shouse is a LOOGY, IIRC. Has some good numbers against lefties. I think he may be given a shot by someone because of his ability to get lefties out. I might not even be thinking about the right guy here.

Re: Recent Picther Cuts! Should we pick up?

I wonder if Krivskey might look at Joe Mays, even picking him up as a free agent with a minor league contract since he pitched for Minnesota. Seems like his best year was 2001 which is 5 years ago.

Of course, Red Zoners will enjoy the list of baseball-reference's comparable pitchers, many of whom have a Reds connection:

    Similar Pitchers

    1. Shawn Boskie (971)
    2. Paul Wilson (967)
    3. Ken Schrom (964)
    4. Kyle Lohse (963)
    5. Todd Ritchie (960)
    6. Phil Ortega (958)
    7. Frank Pastore (955)
    8. Pete Smith (953)

    9. Lil Stoner (953)
    10. Steve Parris (952)

As for Shouse, I was just thinking about him because my son has a ball that he and Auggie Ojeda autographed after a Columbus/Rochester game when they were both in the Orioles system. I think he's been a reliever throughout his career. As I recall, he closed the game we saw.
