What's their salary? Who's scrappier? How many stolen bases?
So far EE has had a better year than Dunn. They both have 17 extra base hits, and have gotten on base at the same rate. EE has made better contact and has a better average. Having said that, I believe given time Dunn will have a better season.
I will take A, becuase I like him more. Both are good though and Im glad we have them.
How about the RISP stat? I'll take player A plus player B's salary for starting pitching.

I think the point is that EE carries a much higher BA than Dunn, has three times as many doubles, and half the walks.
Does that make him the more productive player?
The answer is no. EE has exactly two more RBIs than Dunn. And, except for HRs, the remaining stats are relatively even, with Dunn gaining the edge on slugging because of the HRs.
This certainly proves that BA is highly overrated when judging a player's worth. Yet, how many times do you hear a player's worth berated because of BA (especially Adam Dunn).

Represents about 23% of the at bats in a season. Only part of the picture and one that's not a constant.How about the RISP stat?

Runs scored w/o RISP are worth just as much as runs scored w/RISP.
nuh uh. every run scored by a weak ground ball with a guy on third and less than two outs is actually a home run. I know. I watch lots of baseball.
